Chapter 1709
[ 610 words ]
But just as they cleared the gates, heavily armed trucks intercepted them.
Someone had tipped Mr. Charles off that Dewitt’s VIPs were elite Solenian doctors.
Rumor had it they were a legendary grandfather-granddaughter duo with miraculous skills.
Even though Mr. Charles was highly skeptical of their unconventional methods, he was desperate enough to try anything.
Mr. Charles’s top enforcer personally led the interception squad to block their path.
“Arthur, word on the street is Dewitt’s friends are top-tier surgeons. Why didn’t you give the Patriarch a heads-up?”
“You know our boss hasn’t slept in weeks worrying about his grandson.”
Arthur let out a nervous laugh. “It’s not that I was hiding them.”
“These doctors are on a massive time crunch, and honestly, I already asked them. They don’t have much confidence in treating the young master’s condition.”
Arthur was a smooth talker, carefully choosing his words to avoid offending anyone while leaving no room for argument.
“Whether they have confidence or not, they need to examine the patient first.”
The enforcer’s smile never wavered, but his posture was aggressively unyielding.
As expected, when it came to his grandson, Mr. Charles refused to compromise an inch.
Even Dewitt’s name didn’t carry enough weight to override this order.
Arthur cast a helpless look at Claire.
Claire remained perfectly composed. “Arthur already briefed us on the young master’s condition.”
“It’s not that we refuse to help, but the situation is incredibly critical and cannot be resolved with a quick fix.”
“I do have a counter-proposal, however.”
The enforcer, Gavin Charles, turned his intense gaze to Claire, instantly recognizing the young woman as the shot-caller.
“What kind of proposal?”
Gavin’s personality was exactly like his reputation-hard, relentless, and unyielding.
However, the Patriarch had specifically ordered them to treat the doctors with the utmost respect.
So, he maintained a polite, inquiring tone.
“We are on a strict deadline today,
so we don’t have the time to
properly evaluate the young master. Furthermore, from what
understand, the medical equipment here is drastically outdated.”
“I suggest Mr. Charles transports the young master to Solenia. We can admit him to a premier hospital for a comprehensive state-of-the art diagnostic workup. fo FindNovel.net

“We could even arrange an emergency board of specialists.”
“We will develop a flawless treatment protocol to ensure the young master receives the absolute best care.”
Gavin’s expression darkened. To him, this sounded exactly like a cowardly excuse to flee.
But before he could voice his objections, Claire cut him off sharply. “Do not mistake my professional caution for a brush-off.”
“I am speaking with strict medical integrity, prioritizing the patient’s survival. That is the only reason I am making this offer.”
“Of course, you can force us to operate right now, but the facilities here are severely lacking, and we won’t have access to real-time specialist support.”
“I was told the young master’s conditions highly unstable. Since we cannot guarantee an overnight miracle, we need to prepare for a grueling, long-term rehabilitation process.”
“We are clinical researchers and practicing surgeons. We simply cannot abandon
our domestic patients to stay here indefinitely.”
“So, I highly recommend Mr. Charles reconsiders his approach.”
Claire sounded incredibly authoritative and professional, leaving Gavin completely out of his depth.
He simply dialed the Patriarch directly and held the phone out, demanding Claire repeat her pitch.
Mr. Charles had his own medical team listening in. He didn’t need to deduce if Claire was lying; his doctors would do that for him.
“The young lady makes a valid point.”
“However, Solenian medical tech lags behind Cascadia and Europe. If you are sending the boy abroad, sir, I strongly recommend Cascadia.”
The doctor made his recommendation, entirely ignoring the fact that Mr. Charles had
already blacklisted himself from every reputable Cascadian hospital.
Whether any specialist there would even touch his grandson was highly debatable.
Any doctor with a shred of self-preservation had already sworn off the Charles family.
