Chapter 1795
[ 758 words ]
“Were you worried he was going to get into a car crash?” Claire felt the CEO truly cared for his secretary.
Dane nodded.
Lincoln had been trembling with rage back there.
If he lost control of his emotions behind the wheel, it could easily end in a fatal accident.
That was precisely why Dane had refused to let Lincoln drive them home.
Claire, however, didn’t think Lincoln would crash. He was fighting hard to keep his emotions in check, and he certainly wasn’t going to throw his life away over this.
“Since you have so much faith in him, he’ll definitely be fine.”
“Once he finishes his stint overseas, he’ll be an absolute powerhouse.”
“His ex-girlfriend is definitely going to regret this later.”
That sleazy trust fund kid was never going to give Bianca a happy life.
He was just playing around; there was zero chance he’d actually marry her.
She had just thrown away the one man who genuinely wanted to make her his wife.
Bianca had traded a diamond for a piece of glass. It was honestly a tragedy.
Dane didn’t confirm or deny it.
It was Lincoln’s personal life, and Dane had no intention of judging it out loud.
They didn’t dwell on the topic. Dane simply mentioned that Yanni cycled through girlfriends at a dizzying pace.
Bianca was going to be old news to him very soon.
She had no real leverage.
Yanni genuinely wasn’t a good person.
He had a sick obsession with poaching women, specifically targeting girls who already had boyfriends.
Once he caught them, his absolute favorite thing was watching the girl ruin her life and torch her relationship just to be with him.
Rumor had it this twisted habit stemmed from watching his own mother cheat on his father.
The reason Yanni had absolutely zero inheritance rights in the Wheeler family was because his father was deeply disgusted by his mother’s infidelity.
Even though a DNA Paternity Test proved Yanni was biologically a Wheeler, his father point-blank refused to let him anywhere near the family business.
Getting an allowance was the absolute best Yanni could hope for.
Meanwhile, after Yanni dragged Bianca out of the restaurant, he didn’t even take her back to his own place; they just spent the night at a random hotel.
Lincoln, on the other hand, drove straight back to his rented apartment and spent the entire night packing up every single thing Bianca owned.
He sent her one final text message.
Bianca didn’t reply because she didn’t even see it until the next day.
Despite her suffocating anxiety, she had still forced herself to play along and party with Yanni all night.
By the time she woke up and finally rushed over to Lincoln’s apartment, it was already noon.
She refused to admit she had intentionally dragged her feet just to arrive at this specific time.
She had banked on Lincoln being at the office. Her plan was to sneak in, grab all her stuff, and effectively ghost him. That would be her way of breaking up.
She knew she had done Lincoln wrong, but she felt she had no other choice.
Now that she had seen the lavish, glittering world of the ultra-rich, the
mundane, ordinary married life the
Lincoln was building for them felt utterly repulsive.
Lincoln couldn’t even afford to buy an apartment in Cabinda outright.
Even if he bought one, he’d be strapped to a mortgage for decades.
Bianca absolutely refused to spend the rest of her life drowning in mortgage payments.
She wanted to live in a mansion, not be crammed into a tiny Cabinda apartment, exhausting herself just to survive.
She wanted designer bags and high-end jewelry.
She was wildly jealous of Claire, having a man who would bend over backward just
to make sure she enjoyed a single dinner.
She loved Lincoln, but she also despised how pathetic he looked bowing and scraping in front of a man like Mr. Green.
Truthfully, Bianca had originally fantasized about going behind Lincoln’s back to seduce Dane.
If she could use Lincoln as a stepping stone to become the wife of the Vertex International CEO, her life would be an absolute fairytale.
Unfortunately, Dane never took the bait. He had even threatened her warning that if she ever pulled stunt like that again, he wouldn’t just tell Lincoln-he would ruin her reputation entirely.
At her university, and back in her hometown.
Bianca didn’t care if Lincoln found out, but she was terrified of becoming a laughingstock on campus, and even more terrified of the fallout back home…
So, she never dared to cross Dane again. She played the victim, claiming she had just had a momentary lapse in judgment, that she deeply loved Lincoln, that they were going to get married, and begging Dane not to expose her. Cóntent
