Chapter 1796
[ 672 words ]
The allure of wealth had blinded her. She felt that making a slight misstep wasn’t a big deal.
Since Dane hadn’t told Lincoln afterward, she assumed he simply didn’t care enough about his secretary’s personal life to intervene.
But the events of the previous night made Bianca realize that Dane had actually given her and Lincoln a chance.
And she had completely thrown it away.
Thankfully, she had run into Yanni.
While Yanni wasn’t nearly as powerful or wealthy as Dane, he was a catch she could actually hold onto.
Dane might have been perfect, but it was useless if she couldn’t manipulate him.
Having rationalized all this, she finally caved to Yanni’s relentless pursuit and completely abandoned her morals.
She pulled her key from her purse. The moment she opened the apartment door, the first thing she saw was a stuffed animal she had picked out herself.
Right behind it was all her luggage, neatly packed and waiting in the middle of the living room.
Bianca let out a breath of relief. It seemed her gamble had paid off.
“Were you planning to leave without saying goodbye?”
Just as Bianca reached for her suitcases, ready to make a clean getaway, Lincoln’s voice echoed through the living room.
He stepped out of the bedroom, startling Bianca so badly she dropped her purse onto the floor.
“L-Lincoln… why are you home?”
Seeing how terrified she was of him, Lincoln let out a bitter, self-deprecating laugh. “If you’re this scared of me, why did you even come back for your things?”
“You’ve already found someone better. You don’t need this cheap junk anymore, do you?”
Bianca stayed silent. While Yanni was relatively generous with her, he hadn’t exactly handed her a blank check.
To maintain her facade of being a ‘good girl,’ she hadn’t acted like a total gold digger, demanding expensive gifts left and right.
The money she currently had to her name was actually the living allowance Lincoln had given her.
But she couldn’t admit that to Lincoln; she was terrified he would laugh at her.
She had rolled the dice on this new life, and she absolutely refused to lose.
Lincoln guessed it immediately!
Looking at her outfit, which wasn’t much of an upgrade from what she usually wore,
he knew Yanni hadn’t actually spent much on her.
“Bianca, are you absolutely sure you’re choosing Yanni?”
Lincoln asked, his voice eerily soft.
Bianca admitted she still craved Lincoln’s gentle devotion, but she absolutely refused to live a life of poverty .
“I’m sorry, Lincoln.”
Bianca lowered her eyes, not daring to look at his face.
He wasn’t devastatingly handsome, but he had warm soft features. He
was the classic cate
type.
She had liked him ever since they were in university together.
But back then, she was just an underclassman with zero chance of catching the eye of the popular senior.
It wasn’t until he returned to campus for a recruiting event that they finally crossed paths and started dating.
She had put a massive amount of effort into chasing him.
Lincoln had been aloof at first, but once she broke through his walls, he treated her like absolute royalty.
He never once raised his voice at her, but Bianca also knew he had boundaries.
That was exactly why she hadn’t dared to face him today. She had wanted to sneak in, grab her things, and vanish.
Just quietly dissolve the relationship as if it had never happened.
“Bianca, you were the one who came after me first.”
“You knew exactly what my family background was and exactly how much money I made.”
Lincoln let out a heavy sigh.
He had driven himself into the ground trying to build a home for her, only for her to throw it all away.
Honestly, Lincoln had sensed something was wrong for a while now.
He was busy, yes, but he wasn’t completely blind to the woman sleeping next to
him.
She had been emotionally checked out for the better part of six months. How could
he possibly not have noticed?
He had been waiting for her to weigh
her options and make a choice, b
he never expected her to
like this.

He had even been prepared to sacrifice his overseas promotion just so he could
marry her sooner.
Yet Bianca had still completely disappointed him.
