Chapter 1814
[ 644 words ]
“Thank you. Thank you both so much.”
Fannie’s voice was small.
Norris didn’t pay it much mind, but Claire instantly noticed the subtle shift in the woman’s emotions.
“Honestly, Fannie, if you can’t get out from under him, you should just find a new job.”
“That Julian guy is pure scum.”
“If he decides to make your life miserable, things are going to get unbearable.”
“Plus, what if he starts harassing you after work? You’d never win a physical fight against him.”
Claire didn’t like assuming the worst about men, but Julian definitely deserved the suspicion.
Fannie was already weighing her options.
Julian was nothing but a bully high on his own power.
He had undoubtedly looked into her background beforehand.
Did anyone really need to explain how desperately a girl from an average family needed a prestigious job?
If she didn’t want to be backed into a corner, her only choice was to submit to him.
Otherwise, what was she going to do? Beg this professor for help?
Norris’s family background wasn’t public knowledge. He kept a low profile, and Julian clearly had no idea who he was messing with.
In Julian’s eyes, a university professor might have a few academic connections, but at the end of the day, he was just a glorified teacher.
He didn’t view Norris as a threat at all.
That was exactly the problem with being a spoiled brat like Julian—he had failed to realize that the man eating dinner with them was the second-in-command of Cabinda.
He also failed to realize that his family’s influence was less than nothing in a city like this.
He just hadn’t crossed paths with true power yet. If he had, he would have been stomped into the dirt a long time ago.
“I’ll definitely think about it.”
In truth, the moment Julian had started making inappropriate advances, Fannie had begun plotting her exit strategy.
She had submitted an application to become a war correspondent overseas while quietly compiling a massive dossier of Julian’s bribery, embezzlement, and abuse of power.
The moment her transfer was approved, she planned to submit all the evidence before she left.
If management ignored it, she would hand the files straight to his family’s corporate rivals and leak a copy online.
She refused to believe she couldn’t tear his family down and punish that disgusting toad!
Seeing that Fannie already had a solid plan, Claire didn’t push the issue.
She and Norris walked Fannie
upstairs, but before they left the car,
Claire discreetly texted Rory James
and gace James, who had been tailing them.
She ordered them to sweep the perimeter. If they found Julian, they were to beat him to a pulp.
Fannie moved quickly. She tossed a few changes of clothes into a bag and headed downstairs with them.
Norris was well aware that Claire had deployed her bodyguards.
When they reached the ground floor, the lurking shadow was nowhere to be seen.
He shot his sister a questioning glance.
Claire smiled brightly, unlocked her phone, and pulled up a video.
The footage showed one bodyguard delivering a vicious beating while the other filmed it.
Rory even commented in the
recording that the guy was a sneaky,
ooward
who deliberately and in the
camera’s blind spots.
Which perfectly facilitated their “assault.”
“Is that… is that Julian?”
Fannie saw the video since Claire made absolutely no effort to hide it from her.
Honestly, Claire had been thoroughly disgusted by the way Julian looked at her and she wanted to vent ber frustration. Getting revenge for Fannie was just a happy bonus.
Furthermore, Rory and Jace had staged a “catching a cheater” scenario as their excuse for the beatdown.
Julian thought he had been caught in the crossfire of a random domestic dispute.
In the video, he was sobbing, swearing he hadn’t slept with Jace’s wife.
When they demanded to know why he was sneaking around in the bushes, he couldn’t form a coherent sentence.
It wasn’t like he could call Fannie down to act as his alibi.
Terrified of exposing his twisted stalking, Julian had no choice but to endure the brutal beating in silence.
