Chapter 1883
[ 629 words ]
“Let’s go. I’ll take you both home.”
Owen ushered the sisters toward his car.
Seraphina was unsteady on her feet, and it took Jocelyn supporting her weight just to get her into the passenger seat.
Jocelyn rattled off an address. It wasn’t the Thorne family’s usual residence, but
likely Jocelyn’s private apartment.
Owen didn’t care enough to ask questions. He simply punched the address into the GPS and drove them to the destination.
“Owen, could you help me carry my sister inside?”
“I’ve had too much to drink, I don’t have the strength.” Jocelyn looked entirely genuine in that moment.
Owen didn’t refuse.
He helped carry Seraphina into the living room and dropped her onto the sofa, fully intending to leave immediately.
The place was an upscale luxury apartment, not the sort of real estate Jocelyn should have been able to afford on her own.
Unless she had struck it incredibly rich during her years abroad.
Owen had no intention of prying. He was never one to stick his nose in other people’s business.
“Have some water.”
Jocelyn handed him a bottle of mineral water.
Owen unscrewed the cap and took a quick sip.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading out. Take care of your sister.”
He had no desire to linger and risk any misunderstandings.
“Wait!” Jocelyn stared at him.
Why did a man this incredibly handsome have feelings for Seraphina instead of her?
If Owen loved her, she guaranteed she would never have made him wait all these years.
She would have dated him in high school, married him right after college, had two kids within three years, and locked him down permanently.
Too bad Owen had terrible taste. He actually liked Seraphina.
Her older sister was a complete idiot, completely incapable of holding onto a catch like this.
“Is there something else?” Owen’s patience was wearing thin.
Jocelyn glanced at her sister passed out on the couch. “Could I trouble you just a bit more to carry her into the bedroom?”
“I really can’t lift her.”
Owen flatly refused. “If you can’t lift her, leave her on the sofa. If worse comes to worst, throw a blanket over her and let her sleep on the floor. It’s warm enough, she won’t freeze.”
With that, Owen turned on his heel to leave. Jocelyn was stunned.
This wasn’t going according to her script at all!
“Owen!” Jocelyn chased after him, blocking his path right at the front door.
Owen hadn’t even had the chance to grab the handle.
“What do you want?” Owen’s expression darkened into a harsh glare.
“Could you… stay?” Jocelyn grabbed onto his sleeve.
She was deliberately mimicking her sister’s signature move.
“Jocelyn, do you even hear yourself right now?”
Jocelyn lunged forward, throwing her arms around his waist. “I know exactly what
I’m saying. I love you, Owen.”
“I thought the man you loved was
Xavier? Owen wasn’t falling for a second afat. He forcefully peeled her hands off him.
“I don’t love him. It’s always been you.”
As she spoke, her hands went to her own clothes, starting to unbutton her top.
Given the weather, she wasn’t wearing much to begin with. As the buttons gave way, her lingerie was immediately exposed.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing!” Owen stared at her with a predatory, frigid gaze.
Ignoring him, Jocelyn threw herself at him again, clinging tightly. “Owen, I just want to be your woman!”
“Take me. I love you. Even if we don’t get married, I’d gladly be your mistress!”
Owen shoved her away again, violently this time. “You’re out of your mind!”
“If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving. I don’t have time to indulge your psychotic delusions!”
Owen turned to walk out the door.
But Jocelyn bolted after him, lunging at his back. She grabbed his hand

“Just feel them. I have gorgeous curves. You’ve dated plenty of women, haven’t you?”
“Tell me I’m not better than all of them!”
“Are you a lunatic?” Owen froze for a split second.
