Chapter 1397

[ 636 words ]

“Why are you wasting your breath on him, Quentin?”

Waylon was already losing his patience.

Ewan let out a cold laugh. “Save it, Quentin. I know exactly what kind of person Waylon is.”

“But since you weren’t invited tonight, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”

“Leave? Why the hell would we leave?” Waylon touched the swelling bump on his forehead. “Look at this! I got injured trying to make it here tonight!”

“And look at my cousin, he was bleeding! If we weren’t in such a rush to see Mr. Churchill, we’d be at the hospital right now!”

“If that isn’t sincerity, I don’t know what is.”

He turned to Owen. “Mr. Churchill, you guys are dining on steak. You can at least let us have some of the scraps, right?”

Waylon’s attitude was arrogant and demanding.

He was practically trying to force his way into their partnership.

There was no way in hell Owen was going to entertain him.

Before Owen could even speak, Hanson sneered. “If you take the scraps, what are the rest of us supposed to eat?”

“There’s only so much to go around, and the shares have already been divided. You’re too late.”

Caleb Lewis chimed in as well. “Waylon, if Owen didn’t invite you, it means he’s already chosen his partners.”

“Haven’t you made enough money tailing Quentin anyway?”

“Why are you trying to make things difficult for us?”

“It’s a rare and lucrative project. It’s perfectly normal for everyone to want a piece of

it.”

“But in business, it’s first come, first served.”

“This is a private dinner for the partners. Crashing it uninvited is incredibly rude.” Caleb’s hostility was blatantly obvious.

Waylon’s face contorted with anger. If Quentin hadn’t been holding him back, he would have started swinging.

Then again, he was no match for the men in this room anyway.

Still, he couldn’t bear to let such a massive opportunity slip through his fingers.

His cousin had promised that if they could just find the person who provided the formula, the cash would flow in endlessly.

They had only rushed over tonight because they got a tip that the mysterious creator would be here.

But as Waylon scanned the room, he didn’t spot anyone who looked the part.

However, the girl standing next to Owen looked awfully familiar.

He confidently strode right up to Claire.

Claire remained completely unfazed, but the rest of the men furrowed their brows.

Was Waylon actually trying to hit on her?

She was the treasured

granddaughter of the Churchill family. It wasn’t public knowledge yet but everyone in their elite circle was aware.

She was undeniably stunning. Anyone who saw her noted that she carried the same striking elegance as her mother.

Melissa Churchill had been the

unrivaled star of Cabinda’s

scene back in the day. If Wciaret

was

drawn to her daughter it wouldn’t be surprising in the Teast.

“It’s you!” Waylon suddenly recognized her. She was the girl in the Porsche who had

completely humiliated him on the road!

“What are you talking about? Stop harassing my cousin.”

Unintimidated, Owen quickly pulled Claire behind him, completely shielding her from Waylon’s view.

“She’s your cousin? Since when do you have a cousin?”

Waylon hadn’t paid much attention to the Churchills’ affairs. Wait, he remembered now The missing granddaughter they had just brought back from the countryside!

“You seriously grew up in the country? With driving skills like that?” Waylon locked

his gaze on Claire again.

He was itching to physically yank her out from behind Owen.

“Where I grew up doesn’t matter,” Claire said calmly, stepping out from behind Owen on her own.

Waylon clicked his tongue. “You’ve got a hell of a temper, sweetheart. I cut you off once, and you practically tried to get me killed.”

The rest of the room finally understood what was happening.

Earlier, there had been rumors that Waylon got into a car wreck because some girl outmaneuvered him.

It turned out that the mystery driver was Owen’s little cousin.

Hanson and the others immediately looked at Claire with newfound respect.
