Chapter 1435

[ 614 words ]

Dane had mentioned that the mayor was known for his uncompromising integrity and was notoriously strict with his son.

Filing a complaint directly to the top was the perfect strategy.

Waylon’s expression faltered. “Claire, I just want to be friends. I’m not trying to cause trouble between you and Mr. Green!”

“Do you really have to be this ruthless?”

He had absolutely no desire to go home and get intimately acquainted with his father’s leather belt!

“I wouldn’t have to be if you weren’t constantly pushing boundaries!” Claire’s gaze turned completely glacial.

This wasn’t the first time he had ambushed her. Did he honestly believe that relentless harassment was romantic?

“Get out of my way!” Claire grabbed Priscilla’s arm, attempting to push past him.

Waylon threw his hands up defensively. “Claire, I swear I don’t have any ulterior motives! You’re a doctor, right? I’m here for a medical consultation. Is that acceptable?”

“A consultation for what?” Claire didn’t believe a word he said.

Waylon was a notorious playboy; the guy had less credibility than a scam caller.

“Not for me, for my grandmother!” Waylon scrambled to explain. “Her health has been terrible. She’s on a strict diet, and she suffers from severe insomnia. I was hoping you could help regulate her system.”

“Didn’t you give Caleb Lewis a prescription for his dad’s insomnia?”

“I heard that lately, his family-“

“Waylon!” A sharp voice cut off his sentence. Who else could it be but Caleb Lewis himself?

The moment Waylon saw Caleb, he instinctively shrank back.

The enforcers Owen had sent after him before were terrifying, but Caleb was on another level.

Caleb was the most calculating of them all. Despite his polished, gentlemanly exterior, the man was utterly ruthless underneath.

“C-Caleb, what are you doing here?” Waylon stammered, his tongue practically tying itself in knots.

It was rare to see a rich kid act quite this pathetic.

Caleb offered a chillingly polite smile. “What are you doing here? Looking to harass Claire again?”

Waylon’s face stiffened as he played the victim. “No! I’m genuinely here to ask for medical help!”

“My grandma hasn’t been eating or sleeping well, and she’s been miserable at home.”

“I heard you got some incredible prescription from Claire, and your dad…”

Caleb stared at Waylon, his smile

never reaching his eyes. “Who did hear that from? You seem

Plenty of people knew Caleb had picked up medication from Claire.

But Caleb had kept the actual efficacy of that medicine strictly under wraps.

After all, he was planning to ask Claire to officially treat his father.

If word got out about how effective her methods were, every powerful fantily in the city would be fighting for her time.

He needed to secure her services first, which was why he had kept his mouth shut.

So where exactly had Waylon gotten his intel?

Waylon immediately realized he had slipped up.

He ran with a wide circle of trust-fund kids, right?

One of his buddies had a father who worked in the diplomatic corps alongside Caleb’s dad.

That friend had casually mentioned that Mr. Lewis was looking exceptionally energized these past few days.

What else could it be?

Obviously, the medicine had worked. If you sleep well, your energy levels skyrocket.

“You certainly have quite the network,” Caleb remarked smoothly, though the mild tone made Waylon shudder.

Fear really was a powerful conditioned response.

“N-no, I just happened to hear about it by accident.”

Waylon would never dare openly spy on a top diplomat.

If that rumor spread, his father would beat him half to death.

Knowing that Waylon, despite his

playbotics, understood where

the lines were drawn Caleb decided to drop it.

He turned to Claire. “Claire, I hope I’m not interrupting anything?”

“Not at all,” she replied, shaking her head. “Is there something you need, Caleb?”

“My dad has been taking the prescription you gave me for a few days, and it’s genuinely working.”
