Chapter 1442
[ 562 words ]
“You might not know this, but she’s treated several high-profile patients. Even the Harding family sought her out to treat Ewan’s legs.”
Caleb casually dropped the fact to prove that her skills were unquestionable, regardless of her youth.
Fortunately, the older couple was simply marveling at her age, not doubting her competence.
After all, Caleb was their son. They knew perfectly well how meticulous and cautious he was.
He had practically acted like an adult since he was a child.
By his early teens, he handled matters with more precision than most full-grown
men.
He never would have brought Claire into their home if her medical skills weren’t absolutely stellar.
Besides, Clarence had already experienced the tangible benefits of the herbal medicine over the past few days.
“Claire, we certainly aren’t questioning your abilities. We’re just amazed at how brilliant the younger generation is becoming.”
“To possess such masterful medical knowledge at your age… your future is going to be incredibly bright!”
“Seeing outstanding young people like you gives me so much hope for the future of our country.”
“Traditional medicine has been declining for years. We need as many brilliant young practitioners like you as we can get.”
Clarence praised her at length.
Claire simply smiled and humbly accepted the compliments.
The Lewis family’s cuisine was light and health-conscious.
It was refreshing for an occasional meal, and Claire ate comfortably without holding back.
This pleased Professor Lewis immensely.
She had been worried the housekeeper’s cooking might be too bland for a young girl’s palate.
After dinner, she encouraged Caleb to take Claire out for a stroll.
“There’s no need for a walk, it’s getting late. I should check Clarence’s pulse now.”
Clarence had spent the meal getting a read on Claire and had grown deeply fond of the young woman.
His smile softened even more. “No need to be so formal. Just call me Clarence.”
“Alright, Clarence.”
Claire’s easy adaptation delighted him.
At his level of power, younger people were usually terrified to even speak in his presence.
While Clarence was naturally affable, the aura of authority that came with his position was
undeniably
intimidating.
He looked approachable, but making people feel truly at ease around him was a difficult task.
Claire, however, seemed entirely unfazed, treating him like an older neighbor.
It stripped away the usual walls of political formality.
“I’ll follow my wife’s lead and just call you Claire, then.”
“While you’re here, could you take a look at my wife as well? She’s exhausted herself managing the household all these years and has
picked up a few lingering ailments of her own.
“I’d appreciate it if you could help regulate her system.”
At his rank, Clarence naturally had access to top-tier government healthcare.
Standard issues were handled by his assigned doctors.
But stubborn, chronic conditions were a different story.
The same went for his wife. She didn’t have any major illnesses, but older older

optimizing b
health was paramount.

Claire nodded. “Absolutely.”
Despite focusing on his health, Clarence’s demanding career had left him with deep- rooted physical exhaustion.
As Claire checked his pulse, she rapidly jotted down notes.
Watching her, Clarence realized she truly was extraordinary. Her diagnosis was impeccably precise.
The government doctors had told him the exact same things.
When Dr. Sterling Senior had checked his pulse previously, his assessment had mirrored Claire’s perfectly.
However, Dr. Sterling Senior’s primary focus was always on the President and Vice President.
He had provided a prescription, but hadn’t been able to monitor Clarence’s progress closely.
Since Clarence despised bitter medicine, he had quickly abandoned the treatment.
As a result, his condition had never actually been cured.
