Chapter 1466

[ 433 words ]

As soon as Claire sat down, Priscilla Hastings leaned in with prime gossip.

“Claire, do you see that girl?”

Priscilla nodded subtly toward the back.

The boy she was with was Howard Wade. He was known for being loud and obnoxious, always bragging about his high standards.

Now that he had snagged a gorgeous girlfriend, he was insufferable.

He claimed they had gamed together online for months and she had finally visited

from Metropolitan University for their first real date.

Everyone said he was punching way above his weight.

“She is pretty,” Claire noted after listening to Priscilla’s rapid-fire rundown.

Priscilla continued her commentary.

“They met online. I don’t know what she sees in him.”

Priscilla wasn’t hating; it was just an objective fact.

Howard was aggressively average.

How did he land someone so stunning? What was her angle?

Claire casually glanced at the girl again, just as Felicity turned to look at her.

Their eyes met with startling intensity.

Claire offered a polite nod, but Felicity sneered and aggressively whipped her head away.

Ouch.

Claire was slightly taken aback.

Hostile much?

Is she like that with all girls, or just me?

Seeing Claire stare, Priscilla boldly looked over too.

But this time, they didn’t make eye contact.

Felicity only presented the back of her head.

Claire laughed. “It makes sense for the guys to be jealous, but why are you?”

Priscilla shook her head. “Not jealous.”

Not envious either.

Just bewildered.

It felt like a total mismatch.

Howard had a huge ego but nothing to back it up.

I bet his true colors will show the second they start actually dating.

“Anyway, ignore them. How far are you on Professor Vance’s reading list?”

“You didn’t think we were off the hook just because he gave us his notes, did you?”

Claire looked at Priscilla, who froze. “Honestly, I’ve been reading, but I’m nowhere near your pace.”

“But what are you getting at?”

Priscilla groaned out loud.

Oh no, she hadn’t even thought about a pop quiz.

“What happens if I bomb it?” Priscilla asked desperately.

She had no precedent for this kind of academic torture.

“He’ll bury you in extra assignments for the rest of the semester,” Claire said gleefully.

Professor Vance was notoriously strict. He appreciated driven students, but he was ruthless.

He had only shared his notes because he recognized their dedication.

Priscilla looked ready to cry on her desk.

“Thanks for the warning, Claire. Pray I have time to cram!”

Priscilla studied hard, but she didn’t
