Chapter 1483

[ 632 words ]

“Felicity, what are you doing? Don’t do anything crazy!”

Howard was completely paralyzed with shock.

“I’m not doing anything crazy!” Howard’s whining only made Felicity want to kill him

more.

She had endured this repulsive guy’s company for days. Every night she returned to the safe house, she had to stare at Quinton Graves just to bleach her eyes.

It had gotten to the point where Quinton actually thought she was falling for him.

And it was all Howard’s fault!

Why would she ever fall for Quinton?

The man was an illegitimate son who had only climbed the ranks through his bloodline!

Felicity respected neither Tycho nor Quinton.

She would never give a man like Quinton the time of day.

Sure, she could handle polite, tactical socialization, but that was it.

Quinton was just entirely too fake for her taste.

“Felicity, it’s me, Howard. Are you confusing me with someone else?” Howard still hadn’t grasped the severity of the situation.

If they weren’t in the middle of a kidnapping, Claire might have actually laughed.

But she remained hyper-vigilant.

Not just of Felicity, but of Tycho.

One look at the man told her he was far more dangerous than his partner.

Claire didn’t dare yell for help again.

If she made another sound, Felicity would absolutely slice Howard’s throat.

Howard might have been an annoying idiot, but his life still mattered.

“Let him go and I’ll go with you. If you don’t, you won’t be leaving here at all.”

“This might be a university campus without armed guards, but that’s exactly why the police response will be incredibly fast.”

Claire tried to negotiate.

Tycho leaped forward, instantly locking Claire in his grip.

Claire’s reflexes flared, but the moment she tensed to run, Felicity dug the blade

deeper into Howard’s neck. Blood immediately spilled down his collar!

At the same time, Felicity clamped a hand over Howard’s mouth.

She wasn’t going to let his screaming draw a crowd.

The path to the infirmary was indeed the perfect place for an ambush. It was secluded and empty.

Very few students ever needed to visit the clinic, leaving the walkway completely deserted.

It was also far from the main gates, meaning campus security wouldn’t arrive right away.

But Claire had a security detail.

Her bodyguards had already sensed

thence. They had rushed

over, only to freeze when they sawa the nocent bystander taken hostage.

Seeing Howard inches away from bleeding out, Claire stopped resisting.

Tycho effortlessly secured his hold on her.

“Don’t move, sweetheart.”

Tycho’s voice held a hypnotic, almost cinematic quality to it, like a villain stepping straight out of an anime.

Claire didn’t dare let her guard down.

He had one hand wrapped around her throat, while the other pressed a small, wickedly sharp blade directly against her spine.

If Tycho wanted to cripple her, he wouldn’t even need to snap her neck. One flick of the wrist and he could sever her spinal cord.

A highly trained assassin could paralyze someone with a single strike, leaving them confined to a bed for the rest of their life.

Claire remained perfectly still. If she ended up paralyzed, her life was over.

She couldn’t take that gamble.

Not just for her own sake, but for the patients who would one day rely on her.

Hillary Harding was watching from the tree line, sick with worry.

She swiftly signaled her team.

The bodyguards provided by Dane and The Churchill Family understood Hillary’s tactical gestures instantly.

“Who are you people? What do you want?”

Claire feigned panic.

Tycho didn’t buy the act for a second. This was the girl who had outsmarted Meiko Fujii, after all.

Meiko was legendary for her

deceptive tactics, and even she had

been outplayed by Claire That alone proved she couldn’t be

underestimated.

Meiko’s fatal mistake had been underestimating her target.

To Tycho, Claire was beautiful, agile, and possessed a terrifyingly highdQ.

A woman like her demanded absolute vigilance, even when

captured.

It was almost a tragedy that someone so brilliant had to suffer for her parents’

legacy.

She had never benefited from their brilliance, yet she inherited all their lethal baggage.
