Chapter 1509
[ 530 words ]
“Claire.”
Claire had never met Elias before. She hadn’t realized the Sterling family had someone with such a graceful, gentlemanly demeanor.
He carried himself like a true scholar.
“Claire, my grandfather talks about you all the time. He says if he could just take you
as his student, you’d undoubtedly elevate Sterling’s Thirteen Needles to new heights.”
Elias wasn’t exaggerating in the slightest.
After meeting Claire, his grandfather had lamented that there was no true successor for their family’s legendary technique.
Elias was considered passably adequate, but compared to his old friend’s student, he felt he fell embarrassingly short.
“Dr. Sterling is far too kind.”
“My skills are decent, but they don’t hold a candle to your family’s centuries of medical heritage.”
Whether her skills were actually inferior was debatable.
But it was the polite thing to say.
Elias chuckled. “You don’t need to be modest. Never mind my grandfather; even Sloane has talked about you.”
“She’s an incredibly proud person, but she respects you immensely.”
Claire’s mouth twitched. Respect? Or was she just beaten into submission?
Seeing that Claire had no intention of elaborating, Elias realized her relationship with his cousin probably wasn’t great.
Although Sloane was only his cousin, he knew her well.
She was excessively arrogant and couldn’t always tolerate people who outshone her.
So, if there was bad blood between them, Elias completely understood.
From the looks of it, however, his cousin’s ‘truce’ was entirely one-sided. Claire clearly wasn’t buying it.
“You look tired. Why don’t you get some sleep, and when we land, I’ll catch you up on the details.”
“Or, if you prefer, you can check on the four patients first. They’re in terrible shape, and I’ve only managed to stabilize them temporarily.”
“If you have any other methods, maybe you could help ease their suffering.”
“If all else fails, I’ll try Sterling’s Thirteen Needles.”
Elias finally took the hint: Claire had no interest in making small talk.
In truth, it wasn’t that she disliked him; she just desperately needed to conserve her energy.
“Alright, I’ll go check on them.” Elias wasn’t about to force a conversation on someone who wanted to rest.
He did check on the four men, witnessing the madness and agony blazing in their eyes.
They were temporarily restrained. The toxin hadn’t fully hijacked their nervous systems yet but they were already enduring unimaginable torment.
Silas already knew Elias.
“Silas,” Elias greeted him upon entering.
Silas nodded. “Elias. Please, take a look at them.”
“Right away.” Elias didn’t hesitate, checking each man’s pulse in turn.
“What do you see?” Silas asked, eyes filled with hope.
This was the most gifted prodigy of the Sterling family, after all.
After finishing his examination, Elias wned deeply. “I can confirm

“I’ve never encountered Dreamweed before.”
In fact, everything he knew about it came entirely from his grandfather.
“I’ve never seen the plant. Before coming here, I only had time to pull some files
from my grandfather’s study.”
“I can’t cure the poison in their systems. As Claire suggested, alk can
dots use. Sterling’s bet
Needles to manage their pain.”
Elias was secretly worried that his needlework wouldn’t be as effective as Claire’s.
His grandfather had sworn that her acupuncture skills were flawless.
While Elias was proficient in Sterling’s Thirteen Needles, he hadn’t yet achieved true mastery.
If his grandfather was a grandmaster, Elias was only intermediate.
He still had a long way to go.
