Chapter 1542
[ 538 words ]
Miller’s heart skipped a beat in sheer panic.
If the lab was completely destroyed, they would lose every shred of evidence regarding the black-site operations.
Without that data, they couldn’t publicly expose the Sundaran government’s atrocities or demand international reparations. The entire syndicate cell could slip away into the shadows.
But in Claire’s mind, incinerating the lab wasn’t entirely a bad outcome.
Human experimentation was inherently abhorrent. Factoring in the weaponized Dreamweed cultivation, the knowledge inside that room was a Pandora’s box.
If the formulas for hyper-accelerated Dreamweed growth and neurotoxin synthesis survived, who knew what ambitious faction might steal them?
Claire actually leaned toward letting the facility burn to ash.
It was far safer than recovering the data just so diplomats could use it as a
bargaining chip.
A political victory for Solenia wouldn’t protect the innocent people who might suffer if the toxin blueprints leaked.
The world was full of ruthless men, and Solenia was no exception.
“We need that data intact. We have to secure the evidence to bring Sundara to justice.”
“You don’t understand the hell we go through on the borders…”
Miller started rambling, anxiety spiking his adrenaline, but Claire tuned him out completely.
Her entire world had narrowed down to shifting algorithms and bypass codes.
Seeing Miller breaking her concentration, Dane physically stepped between them, guiding the frantic officer away. “Miller, I need you to step back and let Claire work.” “The self-destruct protocol is already active. If she doesn’t break the firewall in time, this entire cavern is going to vaporize, and we’ll all be caught in the blast.”
“I have absolute faith in Claire, but I’m not going to gamble with your men’s lives. You need to evacuate the wounded immediately.”
Dane’s logic was flawless.
They had no guarantee Claire would succeed, and the countdown was ticking. Evacuation was the only sane tactical choice.
Claire overheard Dane’s orders.
She nodded in agreement, her fingers flying across the keyboard. “I’ve temporarily stalled the
mover
detonators clock, but if can’t break the final encryption layer, the sequence will resume
automatically.”
“Get your men out of here, now!”
Claire then turned her gaze to Dane. “Dane, you need to leave too.”
“Rory, Jace, you’re with him…”
Before she could finish, Rory cut her off instantly. “Clan Successor, we are not leaving! Our sworn duty is to protect you!”
Jace chimed in, his voice hard as steel. “Exactly. We are your personal guard. Where you stay, we stay.”
They were fully prepared to die defending her.
If they failed to protect her, their lives held no value anyway.
Rory and Jace were immovable, and Dane clearly had zero intention of leaving her side either.
He simply turned to his two elite operatives.
“Brooks, River, escort Officer Miller and his men out of the cave. Half of them are bleeding out. They won’t
survive the trek
rough The Aila
Highlands alone.”

“I am entrusting you with their extraction.”
Brooks and River’s faces went pale.
“Boss, if you aren’t leaving, we aren’t leaving!”
Dane’s expression turned to ice, radiating absolute, unquestionable authority. “That
is a direct order.”
“Your country needs you to step up right now. Do not fail me!”
“If the worst happens here… go find Ablett. He’ll know what to do!”
Although Ablett wasn’t his biological uncle he was the only man capable of taking the reins of the Green family empire if Dane fell.
In this critical moment, Dane was officially naming his successor.
