Chapter 1567

Rory had also been admitted for a severe concussion.
Though she insisted she was fine, Claire absolutely refused to let her leave the bed.
At that moment, Claire was being cornered by a local doctor, while Stephen and Officer Miller walked in to find her rubbing her temples in frustration.
“I compounded the powder myself. There’s nothing mystical about it; it’s purely extracted from traditional herbs.”
The doctor had originally been trying to find out where she bought the miraculous coagulant.
Finding out she had made it herself left him absolutely floored.
“Are you seriously just a college student?”
To synthesize a coagulant of that caliber, she had to be at least a post-grad researcher, right?
Were kids these days really this terrifyingly brilliant?
The doctor’s face was painted with heavy skepticism.
Claire replied calmly, “Yes. I’ve studied medicine since childhood, integrating both traditional and modern practices.”
“Then about your medicine…” The doctor hesitated, looking slightly embarrassed.
“I can leave the rest of this bottle with you,” Claire offered, knowing the doctor just wanted a sample to study.
She didn’t mind at all.
She had already patented the formula. Owen had seen to it that every viable drug and cosmetic formula she created was legally locked down.
“Thank you, Claire. But have you ever considered partnering with our hospital for mass production?”
“It could save countless civilian lives.”
The doctor meant well; his first instinct was to scale the production for public benefit.
How many bottles could Claire realistically compound by hand?
But if a pharmaceutical factory took over, it could be distributed nationwide.
The hospital would profit, and patients would live—it was a massive win-win.
“I’ve already secured an exclusive contract with the military for this formula. I apologize.”
Hearing that, the doctor was stunned for a second, then nodded in total understanding.
Of course. The military would kill for a trauma coagulant of that caliber.
And frankly, soldiers needed it far more than civilians did.
The doctor didn’t press the issue, only expressing his hope that it would eventually hit the commercial market.
But once a drug was classified as a military asset, civilian distribution was tightly controlled.
That was entirely out of his hands.
“Claire,” Stephen called out, noticing the doctor wasn’t giving her any trouble.
“Stephen,” Claire greeted him with a bright smile.
Stephen felt his heart melt slightly at the sound.
This was exactly what having a little

sister felt like it was infinitely better eating with his obnoxio
younger brother.
“Everything sorted out here?”
He was incredibly protective of her.
Claire nodded. “The hospital is
secure. I managed to extract thoset
bullets from the shepherd, and the surgical tearr is handling his post-op care.”

“Rory has a concussion and is under observation, but she insists she’s ready to walk out right now.”
“Your flights have been rebooked for tonight. I’ll personally escort you to the airport.”
Claire still had a nagging feeling she had forgotten something.
Stephen was the one who finally brought it up. “The matriarch mentioned your fiancé tagged along for the ride?”
Oh, right! She completely forgot to introduce Dane to her cousin!
“Ah, right.”
Right on cue, Dane walked in from the hallway, followed by River carrying bags of takeout.
Brooks had sustained more severe injuries and was currently being treated elsewhere in the hospital.
They hadn’t taken any bullets, thankfully.
But from surviving The Aila Highlands to the ambush on the mountain road, they had
accumulated plenty of net

Brooks was a stoic powerhouse.

He had fractured his arm during the chaotic rescue but hadn’t uttered a single
sound.
It wasn’t until they reached the hospital that he finally went to orthopedics to get the bone set.
River was bruised up too, but he brushed it off as minor and went out to grab food for his boss.
Claire was absolutely starving, and seeing Dane walk in with food instantly lifted her spirits.
