Chapter 1602

He had liked Claire the moment he laid eyes on her.
She hadn’t tried to curry favor with him; their bond just felt incredibly natural.
She was far more decisive and straightforward than Cindy, which was exactly why Stephen appreciated her.
The daughters of The James Family didn’t necessarily have to be perfect at everything.
But with a legendary figure like Pandora preceding them, the family naturally held slightly higher expectations for Claire.
Claire had no idea what Stephen was thinking. All she knew was that she was starving and exhausted.
Dane had already arranged their meals and was currently leading her outside.
The recommendation came from a hospital nurse.
Dane had asked the staff where they usually went for a good meal around town.
The nurses had been incredibly enthusiastic, recommending a rustic little restaurant tucked away in an alley.
It didn’t have many tables, but the interior was decorated with an exotic flair.
Dane had initially planned to order takeout and have it delivered to the hospital. However, the restaurant suggested they eat in person.
Their signature dishes tasted infinitely better when served fresh out of the kitchen. Hearing that, Dane barely hesitated before agreeing.
The moment Claire stepped out of surgery, he had Brooks Green call the restaurant to put in their order.
Sure enough, by the time they arrived, most of their food was already prepared.
The natural wood tables and the flower-filled dining room instantly put them at ease. The plating on the table was exquisitely detailed.
“Try this truffle soup, and the seared steak with mushrooms. They’re the signature dishes here, and they taste incredible.”
Dane continuously served her food, while Claire focused entirely on eating.
Having been starved for so long, she devoured her meal like a whirlwind.
Yet, despite her speed, she didn’t look messy in the slightest; her graceful table manners shone through.
伊
As Claire scarfed down her food, Date spent most of his time serving Her barely eating anything himself.
Wont belongs to swnowet
Though she was eating quickly, her portions were reasonable.
Dane made sure she got a few bites of everything, carefully managing how much she consumed.
He didn’t want her to overeat and end up sick.
Just as Claire was starting to want more, Dane stopped her.
“That’s enough. If you like the food here, we can always come back.”
He didn’t want her to keep eating, afraid her stomach wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Claire knew she had probably eaten enough.
But she had been running on fumes,
even going hungry while Remes
the others dragged her around
Those people certainly hadn’t cared about feeding her while they were on the run.
Her stomach had been aching from the hunger, so overeating now was definitely a bad idea.
“Alright,” Claire said with a hint of regret as she stood up.
The two of them went for a walk outside
The evening breenet
biting, and the temperature had dropped drastically.
Claire shivered from the sudden chill.
Dane stripped off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
“I don’t need it. If you freeze and catch a cold, it’ll be my fault.”
Claire tried to take it off, but Dane held her hands down.
“Keep it on. I’m not cold. If you don’t believe me, feel my hands.”
Dane naturally intertwined his fingers with hers.
Through his grip, Claire could feel his body heat. He really was quite warm. She stopped protesting.
Dane’s jacket carried the crisp scent of winter pine, comforting and familiar. Hand in hand, they walked down the quiet street.
Whether they had forgotten to let go or it just felt right, neither pulled away.
