Chapter 1607

[ 532 words ]

“Your cousin is a great guy, incredibly talented.”

Claire answered honestly. Elias Sterling was undoubtedly one of the most outstanding men their age.

It was just that a place like The Aila Highlands was far too dangerous.

Which made Elias seem a bit weak in comparison to the environment.

But for Elias, that wasn’t really a flaw.

As the heir to the Sterling family, he would never be short of bodyguards.

Moreover, he was a doctor. He wasn’t exactly living a life of constant peril.

Most people were smart enough to know that offending a highly skilled doctor who might one day save their life was a terrible idea.

“You think he’s outstanding too, right?”

“Then how does he compare to Dane?”

Sloane had stopped obsessing over Dane, but now she was fixated on Claire.

It would be amazing if she could lure Claire into her family.

And the only way to make Claire family was to offer up her own cousin!

She was blatantly trying to poach Dane’s fiancée.

Who knew how Dane would react if he found out Sloane was actively trying to steal

his girl for her cousin.

“Your cousin is exceptional, but he doesn’t compare to Dane.”

Claire’s bluntness clearly disappointed Sloane.

“Didn’t you just say my cousin was outstanding?” Why was he suddenly incomparable to Dane?

Dane had wealth and looks, sure, but the Sterling family wasn’t lacking either, and Elias was incredible in his own right.

Sloane felt a deep sense of injustice on her cousin’s behalf.

Claire sighed, feeling exasperated. “Your cousin is great, but Dane is better.”

“Besides, you’ve heard the saying, right?”

Sloane stared at her. “What saying?”

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Claire was dead serious.

Sloane blinked. “?”

Who am I? Where am I? Why did I even come here just to humiliate myself?

“Sorry to bother you!” Sloane choked out, swallowing her pride.

But even after apologizing, Sloane still felt a flicker of defiance.

Claire raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure he praises me because he likes me?”

“Or is it just professional admiration?”

Sloane paused. “…I’m not sure.” She genuinely wasn’t.

Elias had always been oblivious to romance since they were kids.

She had never known him to show interest in any girl.

The only exception was Claire.

But his interest in Claire was likely purely due to her medical skills.

Then again exceptional people naturally attracted each

Claire was honestly saying this for Sloane’s own good.

Though she wasn’t fond of Sloane, she didn’t exactly hate her either.

It was mostly Sloane’s drastic shift in attitude that left Claire feeling slightly awkward.

She just didn’t know how to deal with her anymore.

“Sloane, I need to get to class.”

Seeing that Sloane had nothing left to say, Claire made her exit.

Sloane glanced at her phone and panicked—she was about to be late!

“Sorry, Claire! I’ll buy you dinner sometime!”

If she hadn’t stopped her, Claire wouldn’t have been rushing, but now…

Before Sloane could finish her sentence, Claire was already sprinting up the stairs.

As long as she ran fast enough, she wouldn’t be late!

Claire actually made it on time, which brought her an immense sense of relief.
