Chapter 1637

“Speaking of which, my grandson is about your age. I’m sure you two would have a lot in common.”
Professor Julian smiled warmly, effortlessly steering the conversation.
Claire was speechless. Why was this prestigious doctor suddenly pitching his grandson to her out of nowhere?
Did his grandson even know about this?
Was Eaton, currently grinding through idol training for his next big performance, aware he was being auctioned off?
*Grandpa, are you seriously selling me out?*
“Is your grandson in med school too?” Since Julian hadn’t been completely explicit, Claire couldn’t exactly blurt out that she had a fiancé.
She decided to just play along with his pivot.
“Heavens, no. He ran off to become a pop star. Signed with some agency while he was still in school.”
Professor Julian rarely complained about his family to younger people, but given the golden opportunity, he couldn’t resist venting about his frustrating grandson.
“The kid got scouted during his freshman military training, of all things.”
“Someone posted a video of him singing online, and it completely ruined his focus on his studies. Now all he cares about is the entertainment industry.”
“I know you young people love celebrities, but that industry is ruthless. It’s not a place for just anyone.”
“My grandson is far too soft-hearted. He’s going to get eaten alive out there.” “Plus, aside from his good looks, he doesn’t really have any concrete skills.”
“I mean, he can carry a tune, but he’s strictly an amateur.”
Professor Julian spared no expense in roasting Eaton’s lack of showbiz talent, though he was bizarrely confident in the boy’s physical attractiveness.
Claire studied Professor Julian’s face.
It was clear that even in his twilight years, the man had an elegant, striking bone structure. He must have been a knockout in his youth.
Judging by those genetics alone, Eaton was likely gorgeous. And he probably didn’t sound like a dying cat if a talent scout had actually signed him.
Meanwhile, in a dance studio miles away, Eaton suddenly sneezed violently in the middle of a routine, blissfully unaware his grandfather was trying to barter him away for medical talent.
Claire obviously couldn’t spend the
entire time talking to just Professor Julian. Several other specialists sgon swarmed her, eager for
insights.
If she could suppress bone cancer and alleviate the agony, what else was she capable of?
Everyone was dying to know.
So, while Claire was politely dodging Julian’s matchmaking, a steady stream of doctors cut in to introduce themselves.
Though none of them managed to
extract a firm commitment from her, they all felt somewhat vindicated seeing that nobody else waso succeeding either. fo FindNovel.net
Regardless of who was trying to poach her or what lavish promises they made, Barry just stood by and watched.
He was entirely confident that Claire wasn’t the type to have her head turned by flattery.
No matter how glittering the bait, she wouldn’t bite.
The morning sessions dragged on until noon, at which point the facility’s cafeteria opened up to the attendees.
Claire was never a picky eater, so grabbing a tray in the dining hall was perfectly fine with her.
Barry, however, felt a bit guilty and suggested taking her out to a nice restaurant.
“Don’t worry about it, Barry. I can eat anywhere.” Claire genuinely didn’t mind, assuming that a cafeteria catering to elite
government-attuated institutions
couldn’t be terrible.
It was a state-sponsored venue, after all.
Sure enough, the spread was impressively comprehensive.
They had stations catering to both Northern and Southern regional tastes.
Unless someone had absurdly specific cravings, they would find something satisfying here.
Barry wasn’t a huge foodie, and while Lawler was slightly particular, even he found the food perfectly acceptable.
Both men secretly worried that Claire, having been raised in obvious wealth, might turn her nose up at cafeteria dining.
Claire sighed inwardly, amused by their overprotectiveness.
“Honestly, this is way above average for cafeteria food.”
It was definitely better than some of the dining halls at The Cabinda University.
Unless you had to eat here every single day, having a meal or two was absolutely nothing to complain about.
