Chapter 1762
[ 616 words ]
If he couldn’t be trained, she’d just let him sit on the fortune and live the life of a carefree trust-fund kid. As long as he didn’t pick up any destructive habits, money would never be an issue.
If the boy turned out to be utterly useless, she had contingency plans. She would donate the bulk of the assets to charity and establish a Family Trust to dole out a monthly allowance to keep him fed.
And if her descendants turned out to be criminals, she would liquidate everything to charity and act as if she had never found them at all.
Claire took one look at Queenie’s nonchalant expression and instantly decoded her mindset.
It made perfect sense. Queens of her caliber never lost sleep over trivial details.
“Don’t stress over it tonight. You’ll see him tomorrow, so just get a good night’s sleep.”
“Though, after searching for so long and finally finding them, I’m guessing sleep won’t come easy.”
Queenie smiled and affectionately tapped Claire on the forehead before turning to Pandora.
“Pandora, look at your granddaughter. She’s got all the bases covered, good and bad.”
Pandora rolled her eyes. “She’s just looking out for you.”
Queenie yielded with a laugh. “Yes, yes, she is. Thank goodness for Claire. If it were up to me, I’d still be standing on the sidewalk trying to pick a hotel.”
In truth, without Claire, Queenie’s staff would have handled everything seamlessly.
But having a surrogate granddaughter fuss over her was infinitely warmer than a corporate itinerary.
Queenie looked at Claire again. “I’ll keep your grandmother with me for tonight, and she can move in with you tomorrow.”
“She might not even want to stay at my place. It’s an apartment right across from campus. The location is great, but it’s way too cramped for her taste.”
Claire wasn’t being humble; it was the absolute truth.
Pandora beamed at her granddaughter. “A hotel is definitely more comfortable.”
“I’ve been stuck in the village for so long, and now I finally get to ride Queenie’s coattails into a luxury suite.”
“There’s no way I’m squeezing into your little shoebox.”
It wasn’t that Pandora didn’t own property in Cabinda, but none of her estates had been prepped for her arrival, making an impromptu stay impossible.
Even Queenie owned sprawling mansions in the city.
For titans like them, their real estate portfolios were so massive they often forgot what they actually owned.
However, both of their properties were grand estates, meaning none
of them were conveniently one &
next to The Federal Medicated
Center.
This was a military-grade facility. Naturally, military personnel received priority care.
Because of that, average citizens
rarely sought treatment here unless
it was an absolute emergency or they happened to live right next door.
Even the ultra-wealthy didn’t typically buy properties in this specific district.
“Deal. You’ll just stay with me then.” Queenie certainly wasn’t going to penny-pinch over a hotel bill.
Once Claire had everyone settled in, she and Mary headed home for the night.
Down the hall, Evie had just finished settling Yvette into her room.
Originally, Evie had offered to swap rooms, eager to give Yvette the larger, nicer suite to score points.
Yvette refused.
She saw absolutely no need for such theatrics.
“I’m perfectly fine in this room.”
“It’s quite nice, actually.” Yvette genuinely didn’t find the room small.
Mostly because she hadn’t seen Evie’s massive suite to compare it to.
“Evie, it’s totally fine. I’m going to head to bed now. We have a big day tomorrow.”
Her words snapped Evie back to reality.
Tomorrow was the real battle.
If she could help Yvette chase away
those
gold-digging relatives, Yvette
would undoubtedly be eternally
teful to her, right?

It never once crossed Evie’s mind to question why these “poor relatives” had flown
across the country in such a massive hurry.
She just assumed they were desperate to strike while the iron was hot.
Meanwhile, Yvette tossed and turned, entirely unable to sleep.
