Chapter 1857
[ 556 words ]
Macy and Valerie were total opposites.
Valerie’s terrible luck was practically legendary, which meant she hadn’t had many friends in high school.
Macy, on the other hand, had friends in every corner of the campus.
Still, after competing against each other for three years, there was a grudging mutual respect between them.
“Valerie, what are you doing with Claire? Are you two close?”
Macy looked back and forth between them curiously.
Valerie brightened at the question. She confidently looped her arm through Claire’s. “Yep! We go to the same school.”
“But how do the two of you know each other?”
Valerie was genuinely curious. Macy went to the Cabinda Arts Academy, which
wasn’t anywhere near The Cabinda University.
Logically, their paths should never have crossed.
Freshmen didn’t typically have inter-collegiate tournaments or mixers yet.
Those would come later, but that was beside the point.
“We bumped into each other at a talent show recording.”
Macy smiled as she explained.
There were no negative rumors about Keegan Townsend online yet, and she knew that was entirely thanks to her cousin.
So, she didn’t want to broadcast her relationship with Keegan either.
Saying they met at a show was enough; she didn’t need to name-drop her favorite idol.
The only downside was that Valerie had previously caught her and Keegan hanging out together.
Once the show blew up, she wasn’t sure if Valerie would recognize him.
“Claire likes chasing celebrities?” Valerie asked, shocked.
Her focus completely skipped over Macy, allowing Macy to dodge a bullet.
“Not really,” Claire clarified. “I was just keeping a friend company, and she was there to see one of the mentors, not the idols.”
Valerie’s curiosity only grew. “Which mentor?”
The only major idol survival show airing right now was that training camp one.
It was a boy group competition, right?
She didn’t care about boy bands and wasn’t a fangirl.
But she desperately wanted to know which celebrity was worth Claire’s time.
Even if she was just tagging along, it meant Claire at least didn’t hate the guy. Otherwise, going to a live broadcast was a massive waste of time.
Couldn’t they just watch it on their phones?
It was livestreamed anyway.
Sure, the atmosphere was better in person, but watching online saved so much time and energy.
In a funny way, Valerie’s logic actually lined up perfectly with Claire’s.
“Oakley.”
Claire didn’t mind sharing. Shirley was the super-fan, not her.
And Shirley’s obsession with Oakley was basically public knowledge.
“Oh, Oakley actually really like his movies Great acting, handsome, and zero scandals. He’s like a breath of fresh air in the entertainment industry.
“I also love his manager, Karla. She’s so fiercely authoritative. She’s
e kind of powerhouse
I admire content belongs
Valerie knew she could never be someone like Karla-she relied way too much on her dad for that.
But that didn’t stop her from idolizing a strong, independent woman.
“Karla looks absolutely badass in a suit.”
Claire caught on quickly. Valerie didn’t care about Oakley; she was entirely captivated by Karla.
She smiled in agreement. “You’re right. Karla definitely has queen energy.”
Valerie nodded vigorously. “Yes, exactly! Queen energy.”
She even felt that the great Oakley looked like a little brother whenever he stood next to Karla.
Of course, she couldn’t say that out loud.
Oakley’s fanbase was massive and terrifying.
“Looks like great minds think alike.”
Claire didn’t add anything else.
Seeing them hit it off, Macy decided not to interrupt further. “We’re gonna head into eat. Let’s hang out soon.
As for Honoria standing nearby, Macy just gave her a polite nod without even asking
who she was.
