Chapter 1901
“Good thing you weren’t the one who went abroad. With how ungrateful you are, you probably never would have come back!”
“You ungrateful brat, apologize this instant!”
Seeing Alistair Thorne’s rising temper, Beatrice Thorne quickly tried to play peacemaker. “Seraphina, hurry up and apologize to your father. Why are you spouting such nonsense?”
It was always like this. One playing good cop, the other playing bad cop.
Seraphina didn’t want to play this game anymore.
She had enough!
“I’m not apologizing. I did nothing wrong.”
Alistair roared without hesitation, “Then get the hell out of this house!”
“Fine. I’m leaving right now.” Seraphina immediately ran back to her room to pack her things.
Jocelyn rushed into her sister’s room.
Seraphina’s room was just a converted study—the smallest space in the house, with terrible lighting.
“Seraphina, Dad was just speaking out of anger. Don’t do anything impulsive.”
“Mom and Dad still love you.”
“What you said just now really broke their hearts.”
Jocelyn didn’t want Seraphina to leave.
Seraphina was her personal blood bank. If she left, who was she supposed to leech off of?
Besides, she still wasn’t sure if she was going to keep the baby. Seraphina might still be useful.
Although Seraphina didn’t know exactly what was going through Jocelyn’s head, her intuition told her it was time to go.
“It’s
you that Mom and Dad love.”
Seraphina zipped up her suitcase, pulled it to the door, and shot Jocelyn one last glance.
A flash of smugness crossed Jocelyn’s eyes.
Of course she knew she was their parents’ favorite. Seraphina was nothing more than a stepping stone.
Seraphina saw right through her.
Ever since she had given up all hope on this family, the fog in her mind had completely lifted.
She was done harboring unrealistic fantasies about these so-called relatives.
It was time to go live the life she actually wanted.
Seeing Seraphina’s total lack of reaction, Jocelyn scowled. “Seraphina, I’m just looking out for you. Why won’t you listen?”
“Sure, they love me, but you’re their own flesh and blood too.” “They only ask you to compromise because I’m younger.” “I’m your own sister. Are you seriously jealous of me?”
Seraphina didn’t waste her breath. She just stared at her intently, “From now on, nobody will fight, you for their love.
Seraphina genuinely dragged her suitcase out of the Thorne residence.
Beatrice wanted to chase after her, but Alistair held her back. “Let her go!”
“Once she
come back!
just
can nevwalks out that door, pretend never had this davel
Alistair’s booming voice echoed down the street, loud enough for all the neighbors
to hear.
Having just stepped outside, Seraphina obviously heard it too.
Did they really think a threat like that would make her stay?
No. She only quickened her pace.
Jocelyn feigned hesitation. “Dad, are we really just going to let her leave?”
“It’s not safe for a girl to be out there all alone.”
“Maybe I should go after her and bring her back.”
Alistair glared at her. “Bring her back for what?”
“That ungrateful wretch! As far as I’m concerned, she doesn’t exist!”
They all assumed Seraphina would come crawling back in tears, begging for their forgiveness.
In reality, she hopped on a
set
high-speed train out of the state that very night. She had zero intentions of ever returning.
By the time the Thorne family realized they wanted something from her again, she
was already long gone.
Seeing her parents wash their hands of Seraphina, Jocelyn dropped the act.
Her most pressing issue now was the baby in her belly.
She dialed Larkin’s number.
It rang for ages before he finally picked up.
“What is it? Spit it out.”
