Chapter 507

Peter had just turned to leave when Trevor brought Celeste’s

phone over from Jordyn’s room.

Taking it from his hand, Celeste didn’t lift her head, only said

softly, “Thank you.” +

While drinking the soup, she suddenly thought of something.

Tuming her head slightly to look at Trevor, who was sitting not

far away watching her, she asked in a hoarse voice, “Where’s Jo?

“She’s downstairs. Both Jo and Grandma are very worried about

you, but children are fragile, and Grandma hasn’t fully recovered

yet either. I was afraid they’d catch it from you, so I didn’t let

them come up.” 4

Celeste managed half a bowl before she couldn’t eat any more.

Seeing how hard it was for her, Trevor didn’t insist. He took the

bowl from her hand, pulled a tissue, and handed it over for her to

wipe her mouth.

“If you’re not comfortable, just rest. Once the IV’s done, I’ll call

Dr. Carter back up.”

Even though she was exhausted, before sleeping, Celeste still

sent a message to Matthias, letting him know about her

condition.

Matthias, learning that she had such a high fever, was very

worried too, and told her to focus on getting her health back. As

for work, they would talk about it after she recovered.

Putting her phone down, Celeste was about to drift off when her

gaze unintentionally landed on Trevor, sitting not far away, still

working on his computer.

She looked at him for a moment before closing her eyes to rest. 3

It was more than two hours later when she woke up again.

Her whole body was drenched in sweat, clothes soaked through.

At some point, the IV had finished, but Trevor was still there,

keeping watch.

Seeing her awake, he closed his computer and walked over.

“How are you feeling?”

“Warm.”

More precisely, she felt warm and cold at the same time. But the

damp clothes clinging to her were unbearable. So, she got up

and went to the bathroom to change.

When she came back out, Trevor handed her a thermometer.

“I checked your temperature twice earlier—first it dropped quite

a bit, but then it started climbing again. Dr. Carter said that’s

normal. The timing’s about right now, let’s test again.” 1

Celeste took it. “Okay.”

Though still weak, she felt somewhat better than before.

Glancing at Trevor’s laptop on the desk, she said, “I can take

care of myself now. Go ahead with your work.”

At that, Trevor looked at her for a moment but didn’t reply.

Just then, his phone rang. 7

He went over to pick it up. Then, he answered the call and

stepped out of the room. 6
