Chapter 760
That night, Jordyn was incredibly happy.
Whenever Trevor was home, she was used to spending time in his study-doing homework, reading, drawing, or playing with her toys.
A little after ten that night, after washing up and getting ready for bed, Jordyn said to Celeste, “Mom, I’m going to check on Dad and see if he’s gone to bed yet. I’ll say good night to him while I’m there.”
“Okay.”
Jordyn had already run out of the room when she suddenly came back. Holding onto the doorframe, she tilted her head and asked, “Mom, aren’t you coming with me?”
Celeste shook her head. “I won’t go. You go ahead.”
By now, Jordyn was already used to the fact that there wasn’t much intimacy between her parents. So, she didn’t find it strange anymore.
“Okay then.”
She turned and left.
She pushed the door open and peeked inside when she reached Trevor’s study. Seeing that he was still sitting in front of the computer typing away, she said, “Dad, you’re still awake, just like I thought.”
There had been no knock, only the sound of the door opening. Yet Trevor knew it was her.
He looked up from the computer. “Are you and Mom going to bed?”
“Yeah.”
Then, Jordyn yawned. “Dad, aren’t you sleepy?”
“Not really. I’ll sleep later. If you’re tired, go to bed with your mom.”
“Okay.”
Jordyn waved to Trevor. “Good night, Dad.”
“Good night.”
…
Perhaps because she had been traveling and busy for several days, Celeste slept in the next morning.
Jordyn was already out of bed by the time she woke up.
When she came downstairs, Jordyn had even finished breakfast and was getting ready for school.
She waved enthusiastically at Celeste after seeing her. “Mom, you’re awake! Come have breakfast. I’m going to school now.”
“Jo, I’ll take you…”
“It’s okay, Mom. Mr. Peter said today’s breakfast is all your favourite food. He especially had it prepared for you. You should go eat breakfast I’ll go to school myself.”
After saying that, she waved to both Celeste and Trevor before slinging her
backpack over her shoulder. Then she happily ran out the door.
After Jordyn left, Peter was about to invite Celeste to breakfast when Trevor spoke
first. “Have some breakfast. I’ll drive you to work later.”
She didn’t drive here, and it was indeed difficult to get a taxi in this residential area. So, Celeste didn’t object.
She turned and took a seat at the dining table.
Just as Jordyn had said, every
on the table was something she
liked. Looking at Peter, Celestene
gently said, “They are all my o favorites. Thank you.
Peter beamed. “It’s nothing.”
As he spoke, he glanced at Trevor.
Trevor asked as Celeste started eating. “Are you going to Fleming Group or YodaVision?”
“YodaVision.” She didn’t look up.
Trevor nodded. “Have you read the two newly published papers?”
Celeste knew he was referring to the papers of autonomous Al agents that had recently been released by several top international research teams in collaboration with leading industry experts.
“Yes.” She had finished reading them long ago and had already discussed them with Matthias.
Trevor continued to ask, “What do you think?”
Celeste said nothing.
Seeing her silence, Trevor understood that she had no intention of discussing the
topic in depth with him. So, he didn’t press the matter.
Instead, he lowered his head and continued eating his breakfast.
After that, neither of them spoke much.
Peter could only sigh silently as he watched the scene unfold.
After breakfast, Celeste got into Trevor’s car.
As the vehicle drove out through the gates of the residential area, a car that had
been waiting nearby for quite some time quietly followed behind them.
