Over the next few days, Celeste was busy dealing with company matters.
One day, Matthias suddenly said to her, “A few more key engineers have left Innova Tech recently.”
Celeste hummed in acknowledgement and replied, “I’ve heard about it too.”
“Several investors have pulled out, but a few are still holding on. I guess they’re waiting to see whether Trevor will step in.”

Jordyn tried to move away, but couldn’t, so she simply turned her face aside. “Whatever.”
“Has anything happened at school these past few days?”
Jordyn took out her tablet and lowered her head to enter her password without looking up. “Don’t you already know?”
“Okay.”
Seeing that she clearly didn’t want to talk, Trevor didn’t say anything else.
A moment later, he received a work call and began dealing with it in the car. For the
rest of the drive, the father and daughter pair remained mostly silent.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Beck and Miles were already there.
Seeing them arrive, Miles stretched lazily. “Finally! Come on, let’s order. I’m starving.”
Trevor handed the menu to Jordyn.
