After the meal ended, Wynn got into Trevor’s car.

She looked at him and asked, “Are you angry?”

What she meant, of course, was that she had gone to find him through Jacob without getting his consent.

Trevor replied, “No.”

Then he added, “I’ll have the driver take you home.”

He proceeded to instruct the driver to head to the Locket residence.

Wynn didn’t stop him. Instead, she looked at Trevor and reached out to hold his hand.

He paused for a moment.

When he came back to his senses and was about to pull his hand away, Wynn leaned in toward him.

Trevor turned his face aside and pushed her hand away, shifting his position to put some distance between them.

Just then, his phone rang.

He picked it up and said, “I need to take this call.”

Having been rejected, Wynn showed no sign of embarrassment. She leaned back and said, “Alright.”

Trevor spoke with the person on the other end about work matters. It was several minutes before he finally hung up.

Wynn didn’t bring up what had just happened.

Instead, she smiled and chatted with him about the business he had been discussing on the call. “I thought that project had already been settled.”

“It hasn’t. Something came up and slowed the progress.”

Wynn nodded and continued talking with him about company affairs.

The atmosphere between them was fairly pleasant, as if the earlier incident hadn’t affected them at all. Wynn also didn’t make any further attempts to get close to him like she had earlier.

After all, pushing too hard could backfire.

If Trevor grew impatient and brought up the breakup himself, it would do her more harm than good.
