After dinner , Jordyn mentioned something that made Celeste realize Trevor was away on a business trip .
At around 9:00 pm , while Celeste was taking a shower , her phone rang
Jordyn saw that it was Beck calling and answered it . “ Mr. Harper . ”
Hearing her voice , Beck paused slightly . “ Jo . ”
Before Jordyn could contine , Celeste stepped out of the bathroom . Seeing her , Jordyn handed her the phone and said , “ Mom , it’s Mr. Harper . ”
“ Okay . ” Celeste took the phone , but before she could speal , Beck beat her to it . “ I hope I’m not disturbing you ? ”
“ No. ”
Beck said , “ I’m out of town right now , so we’ll have to reschedule our dinner for another time . ”
“ That’s fine . ”
After hanging up , Celeste was about to dry her hair when Jordyn suddenly looked at her in confusion .
Noticing her gaze , Celeste asked , “ What’s wrong ? ”
“ Mom , you know Mr. Harper too ? ”
“ Yes . ”
“ Okay . ”
The next morning , Celeste went downstairs to make breakfast .
About half an hour later , as she was heading back upstairs , she saw Jordyn on the phone . When Jordyn spotted her , she ran over and handed her the phone . “ Mom , it’s Dad ”
Celeste took the phone . “ What is it ? ”
“ I can only get back on Wednesday . Until then , I don’t think Jo will want to leave the Rodriguez residence . I’ll have to trouble you to take care of her for the next few days . ”
Celeste listened silently , pressing her lips together before hanging up .
After dropping Jordyn off at the kindergarten on Monday , Celeste headed to work .
She had a major project deadline , so the entire week was hectic . She often worked late into the night , only returning home at midnight .
Even though Jordyn was staying at the Rodriguez residence , they only had time to chat briefly in the mornings .
On Thursday afternoon , Jordyn called to tell her that Trevor had returned . That same day , after school , she went straight back to the Fleming manor .
On Saturday , Celeste , Beck , and Shanice met up at an amusement park .

“ Trevor plans to buy out my shares , as well as Miles ‘ and the others ‘ and give it to … ” He didn’t finish his sentence , but Celeste knew exactly who he was referring to – Wynn
She had seen firsthand how indulgent Trevor was toward Wynn at InnovaTech
Previously , she had even joked that she wouldn’t be surprised if he outright changed InnovaTech’s name to Locket . But she hadn’t expected him to actually go through with something like this .
