Chapter 761
Celeste got out of the car when they were still a few hundred meters away from YodaVision.
Trevor drove off after she got out of the car.
Watching the directions in which they departed, Quentin sat there for a long while before finally driving away himself.
YodaVision and Velotra had always maintained a strong partnership.
After returning to the office and finishing a brief meeting, Celeste headed over to Velotra.
That very afternoon, good news arrived from Velotra. Their multimodal fusion research had achieved a major breakthrough.
As soon as the news was released, media outlets rushed to report it, attracting the attention of experts both domestically and internationally.
Both InnovaTech and Velotra were involved in autonomous driving research and development. So, the moment news from Velotra broke, Linda and the rest of the family received word and immediately informed Wynn.
When Wynn and members of both the Lockets and Shaws saw the reports, their expressions darkened.
Although InnovaTech had been built upon the foundation and framework established by Trevor, it remained extremely capital-intensive.
Competition in the industry was fierce, while future returns remained uncertain.
Over the past year and a half, Wynn and her family had poured vast sums of money into the company. Yet they had little to show for it.
Their anxiety had only grown in the past few months. After all, their competitors had each been making breakthroughs of their own.
Now, with Velotra achieving such a significant technological advancement, Innova Tech’s chances seem even slimmer.
However, just as they were beginning to worry, an executive of Velotra gave an interview. In it, he stated that the company’s remarkable success in the multimodal fusion was largely thanks to Celeste.
He then lavishly praised her in front of the media.
Wynn’s hand tightened into a fist the moment she saw the report. The expressions of everyone else in the Locket and Shaws became even uglier.
Linda was practically grinding her teeth. “It’s her again! Why is it always about her? Is she really that capable?”
Ruby said darkly, “Of course not. It’s probably the work of her engineers. She’s always liked to take the credit for other peoples achievements This isn’t anything new.”
Linda snorted. “Exactly. She has no shame.”
Wynn listened quietly from the side without joining in the conversation. But inside, her mind felt completely blank. It was as if her mind had been blown apart.
“Wynn?” Noticing that something seemed off about her, Lilian called her several
times before she finally snapped back to reality.
Lilian assumed she was worried about InnovaTech’s future.
“There are still plenty of technical bottlenecks in this industry. Velotra is nowhere
near winning yet. There’s no need to panic.”
The others quickly chimed in with words of encouragement.
Of course, InnovaTech’s future wasn’t the only thing weighing on Wynn’s mind. But
she said nothing and merely forced out a faint smile.
Although she disliked dampening the mood, Linda couldn’t help but say, “Wynn, we’re out of money, aren’t we?”
Even though she wasn’t heavily involved in the affairs of InnovaTech or Locket Tech, she knew the family had been scraping together funds from every possible source just to keep both companies operating and the research projects moving forward.
The problem was that the projects they were pursuing consumed enormous amounts of money.
The potential rewards were huge, but returns would not come anytime soon. This meant that they were really running out of money.
Although Trevor had been helping them financially all the while, it still wasn’t
enough. In fact, it wasn’t even close to enough.
The projects they were researching were essentially two bottomless money pits. Yet,
in reality, they couldn’t stop now even if they wanted to.
It was because by this point, they had already poured literally their entire fortunes
into them.
