Chapter 1636
[ 621 words ]
“How is she doing now?”
While Dr. Terrance trusted that Barry’s team had made a breakthrough in bone cancer treatment, he knew a miraculous, overnight cure was impossible.
“She’s recovering beautifully. She’s not entirely cancer-free yet, but the malicious cells have been suppressed and are actively shrinking.”
“I project that within three to five years, she’ll be able to completely stop her medication.”
Barry didn’t claim she was fully cured just yet.
But didn’t stopping medication in three to five years basically mean remission?
Dr. Terrance was floored. “You really kept this quiet, didn’t you?”
Later, when he learned the full extent of Claire’s involvement, Dr. Terrance was even more stunned. He openly accused Barry of being a sly old fox for hoarding such an incredible talent.
“You’ve got me all wrong,” Barry quickly defended himself.
“I haven’t hoarded her, and honestly, I couldn’t even if I tried.”
“Look at her-she’s a student at The Cabinda University right now. Do you really think she’ll come back to work in Apex?”
Even if Claire wanted to, the sheer magnitude of her abilities meant every top hospital in the country would be fighting tooth and nail to keep her in the capital.
When the time came, Claire might not even have a say in the matter.
This was just Barry’s theory, but it was practically a guaranteed fact.
Claire’s name was already circulating among these medical titans.
Whispers of her skills were spreading fast.
Even Dr. Terrance was itching to propose a collaboration.
If her alternative methods could miraculously suppress bone cancer, what about other forms of the disease?
Throughout the conference, numerous doctors tried to slip Claire their business cards or corner her for a chat about applying her methods to other ailments.
Behind closed doors, plenty of attendees grumbled that Barry had simply gotten lucky.
If they had stumbled across a prodigy like her first, *they* would be the ones presenting a miracle drug today…
Poaching season had officially opened. Everyone was swinging their nets; it was just a matter of who swung the hardest!
“You truly are remarkable, Claire. Have you ever considered bringing your talents to the coastal metropolis?”
A leading specialist from Avalon stared at her like a starving wolf looking at a steak.
She was an untapped goldmine. Who knew how many medical miracles she would pull off in the future?
If he could secure her for his hospital, it would be a game-changer!
He wasn’t the only one asking.
Claire remained unfazed. “I appreciate the offer, Professor Julian, but I’m only a freshman. Graduation is a long way off.”
Professor Julian recognized the polite brush-off for what it was.
But he wasn’t about to give up that easily.
“That’s completely fine. I can wait for you to graduate.”
“Besides, you spearheaded Dr. Barry’s trial right out of high school. You must be even sharper now.”
“Why don’t you come intern at our hospital this summer? I’ll personally mentor you.”
Professor Julian figured if he got his hooks in her now, their
mentor-student bond would girl. nes

“I…” Claire hadn’t expected the old man to start gunning for her summer vacation.
She was already drowning in commitments and had zero plans to leave Cabinda.

“I already have plans for the summer, unfortunately. My apologies, Professor Julian.”
The smile froze on his face. Kids these days were so hard to sweet-talk.
He shot a sideways glance at Barry, wondering what dark magic the man possessed
to trick this girl into working for him.
Looking at Barry’s main protégé, Lawler, the guy was perfectly average in the looks department.
Suddenly, Professor Julian thought
of his own grandson. The kid was
incredibly handsome and currently trying to make it as a popidol against the family’s wishes.
“No worries at all. If the summer is booked, we can always arrange another time.”
