Chapter 1758
[ 631 words ]
Yvette had serious matters to attend to, and it was highly likely she would be meeting her late husband’s biological mother-her mother-in-law that very evening.
She definitely needed to rest first.
The sudden rush of events left her exhausted, and she needed to be at her best.
So, she didn’t turn Evie down.
She had given the girl plenty of money, so having Evie book a room seemed perfectly reasonable.
Meanwhile, Claire had just received a call from Pandora.
“What? You’re already on a flight to Cabinda?”
“Weren’t you supposed to be in Montara helping Queenie search for her family?”
“Why the sudden detour?”
Claire couldn’t help but wonder if their search had hit a wall, or if the two grandmothers had gotten into a fight and parted ways.
“Stop overthinking it. Queenie and I are getting along perfectly fine.”
She truly knew her granddaughter well. Even though Claire hadn’t voiced her suspicions, Pandora already knew exactly what was running through her head. Claire playfully laughed it off. “Okay, okay. So are you and Queenie coming to Cabinda together?”
“Don’t tell me she found out her son is here?”
After finally getting a lead and rushing to Montara, having to immediately hop on another flight to Cabinda sounded utterly exhausting for the poor woman.
“You actually guessed right, though there are no prizes. Book a room for Queenie and me first, preferably as close to The Federal Medical Center as possible.”
Hearing Pandora’s instructions, Claire sensed something was amiss.
“Why so close to the hospital? Is Queenie so overwhelmed by the news of her son that she needs medical standby?”
“Queenie found out her grandson is a patient at the hospital.”
“As for her son, he’s already passed away. Make sure you don’t bring it up when we get there.”
Pandora warned her granddaughter.
Losing both her husband and her son had been a devastating blow to Queenie.
Knowing she still had a grandson was the only thing that had kept her going.
But the moment she heard her
grandson had been in an accident, she couldn’t sit still for another
Becond. She demand for
Cabinda immediately.
Claire suddenly understood. Queenie’s journey to find her family had been plagued with tragedy.
She just wondered which lucky guy was about to inherit billions of dollars out of nowhere.
Good thing her own family’s wealth was nothing to scoff at, or she might have actually been jealous.
“I understand, Grandma. Don’t worry.”
“I’ll arrange the accommodations for you both. How many rooms do you need for your entourage?”
Claire moved quickly, securing the hotel reservations in no time. On the other end, Evie was lazily browsing for rooms online.
She didn’t need to return to the hotel; she could just book everything from her phone.
But something weird was going on Just a moment ago, there had been plenty of available suites but now every room matching her current layout was completely sold out.
The only remaining rooms were much smaller. What if Yvette found out she was staying in a cramped room while Evie had a better one? She would definitely be furious.
Evie hesitated for a moment before booking a room that was slightly different from
her own.
It wasn’t that much cheaper, so surely Yvette wouldn’t yell at her over it, right?
Yvette had never been petty about money anyway.
Still, she called the hotel front desk to ask what had happened.
The receptionist informed her that someone had just booked two luxury suites and
four or five adjoining rooms all at once.
The VIP demanded they all be clustered together, completely clearing out the remaining premium rooms on Evie’s floor.
If they absolutely had to stay on the same floor, they had to settle for a smaller room.
Evie frowned. Who in the world was throwing that kind of money around?
Her room cost over a thousand dollars a night, and even with the discount she got
for booking half a month in advance, it was still wildly expensive.
Who were these people?
