Chapter 1759
[ 603 words ]
“Grandma, my grandmother and her friend are arriving in Cabinda tonight, and I need to pick them up from the airport.”
“Would you prefer I drop you off at home first, or…?”
Mary was a bit surprised to hear that Pandora was coming.
She had only just arrived in Cabinda herself, and now Pandora was following right behind. Was Pandora upset with her for some reason?
“Don’t overthink it. My grandmother is just here to accompany her best friend, who is looking for her family.”
“They were in Montara, but they got a lead pointing here, so they flew over immediately.”
Claire quickly cleared the air.
Mary had spent a few days staying at The James Village and had gotten along wonderfully with Pandora, so she naturally didn’t want any misunderstandings between them.
Relieved that Pandora wasn’t holding a grudge, Mary immediately grew concerned. “Then I absolutely have to come with you to the airport.”
“Rushing to Cabinda like this-did something urgent happen?”
While she understood the desperation of finding lost relatives, Pandora was getting
up there in years, and her friend was likely around the same age.
Shouldn’t they be taking their health into consideration?
“It’s a bit of an emergency. Her friend’s grandson is apparently a patient at the hospital right now.”
Claire didn’t need to say more. Mary understood instantly.
Finally finding your long-lost family, only to learn they were hospitalized—anyone would be frantic.
“Alright. Should we head over now?”
The airport was about an hour’s drive from the hospital, but with traffic, it was always best to leave early.
Claire didn’t want to get stuck in nightmare traffic.
“Are you hungry? Do you want to grab something to eat first?” Claire asked, worried that Mary might starve during a potential traffic jam.
“Not yet. Why don’t we just grab some pastries for the car?”
Mary’s suggestion was perfect.
Not only would it hold them over, but Pandora and Queenie would probably need a bite too.
Queenie actually had business operations in Cabinda, meaning someone from her company was also being dispatched to pick her up.
Claire wasn’t aware of this; she was simply focused on personally picking up her grandmother.
On the way, Claire stopped to buy some highly recommended local pastries.
She brought the boxes into the car, handing half to Mary to snack on and saving the rest for Pandora.
Her timing turned out to be impeccable.
By the time they reached the hospital, it was already 6:30 PM.
Pandora and Queenie had just disembarked. Their bodyguards and assistants went to claim the luggage while the two older women emerged, flanked by two guards.
“Grandma!” Claire spotted Pandora first.
The stylish older woman was dressed in a vibrant Montaran dress paired with a colorful shaw The gemstone around her neck
practically radiated wealth.
Pandora gave her granddaughter a nod before warmly greeting Mary.
“Mary, I’m sorry to drag you out here to pick us up.”
Noticing that her grandmother had completely bypassed her, Claire turned her attention to the other woman. “Queenie.”
Queenie looked remarkably alert.
Perhaps compared to the despair of searching for a needle in a haystack, the knowledge that she actually had, her with a

surge of adrenaline.
Though she looked slightly worn out from travel, she carried herself with steady composure.
“Claire, thank you for going through all this trouble.” Queenie adored Claire.
If the girl wasn’t already Pandora’s granddaughter, Queenie would have tried to claim her as her own.
“It’s no trouble at all! Mary and I were already at the hospital anyway.” Claire used Mary’s first name to make conversation smoother among the women.
Mary, easygoing as ever, didn’t mind the casual tone in the slightest.
“Should we head straight to the hospital, or do you want to rest at the hotel first?” Claire was worried the elderly women might be starving.
