Chapter 1902
Larkin and Regina had just left the Churchill estate and were currently on their way home.
Jocelyn used to be Larkin’s favorite plaything, but work had kept him busy lately, so he had left her out in the cold.
Who knew the little schemer had so many tricks up her sleeve? Not only did she get knocked up by some random guy, but she actually tried to pin the pregnancy on Owen.
She only saw the Churchill family’s immense wealth, completely blind to their ruthless nature.
If she actually tried to extort the Churchills, her life would be a living hell.
It might even drag her entire family down with her.
Millions of dollars were never that easy to grab.
“Larkin, did you see the news online?”
Larkin hadn’t expected her to be so straightforward. “I saw it. You really are a piece of work. Quite the little schemer.”
“I guess you didn’t know that Owen’s aunt is my wife.”
“Your little stunt really screwed me over.”
“The Churchills thought I was pulling the strings from the shadows, trying to make a play for their empire.”
Larkin was half-joking, half-serious.
The Churchills hadn’t actually thought that, but he and Regina had been worried about a misunderstanding. That was why they had rushed over in the dead of night to explain themselves.
They had even aired their own dirty laundry.
And it was all thanks to Jocelyn.
“Larkin, I didn’t… I… Can you come over tonight?”
“I want to explain things in person. The baby is definitely yours. It’s just that you have a wife, and I didn’t want to ruin your family, so I thought…”
Jocelyn was terrified of losing her sugar daddy. He had already been distant lately. Besides, the old man wasn’t exactly a stallion in the bedroom. No matter how much she degraded herself, she had no intention of wasting her youth on an aging billionaire.
However, if he was willing to pay her handsomely, buy her whatever she wanted, and leave her alone, she’d gladly marry him.
Larkin gave her a few half-hearted responses and hung up.
Regina scoffed. “Look at that. The little brat is still trying to play you.”
Larkin tried to butter up his wife. “Just ignore her. I’m definitely not falling for it.”
“You’d better know your place.” Regina’s words held a hint of a threat, though her tone was light.
Truth be told, Regina was a whirlwind of mixed emotions right now.
The moment she found out Larkin had been unfaithful, she had decided to teach him a lesson.
She already had her kids and didn’t-
want any more. She also wasnt
about to let Larkin spawn anketnet
illegitimate heirs.
Her mother hailed from the prestigious Churchill family.
But since her mother and second
uncle were both born out of
wedlock, Regina understood the game perfectly. If she didn’t want anyone fighting her children for their
inheritance, she had to ensure
Larkin’s mistresses never got pregnant.
Though Regina had never met her
gran old money families
always kept some, shady medical
tricks hidden away.
Her mother had passed one down to her.
Regina had taken the prescription, brewed the medicine, and quietly slipped it into Larkin’s soup.
He never noticed a thing.
“Dane, what do you think of Regina?”
Claire was spending the night at the old estate. She had called Dane to make sure he got home safe.
Somehow, the conversation had drifted to this topic.
Dane instantly knew what was running through her head.
“She’s impressive. Incredibly decisive.”
To systematically sterilize her own husband—that took a ruthless kind of strength.
“But I don’t want a marriage like that.”
Claire didn’t have high hopes for matrimony.
She had watched Latham and Octavia put on a picture-perfect show of love, only to both end up cheating.
When it came to the ultra-rich, their private lives were rarely pristine.
Dane seemed fine right now. He kept his hands to himself and stayed out of trouble.
But who was to say he wouldn’t turn into the next Larkin?
