Chapter 1903
Larkin and Regina had been high school sweethearts. They had a deep foundation and had even built their business empire together.
Yet, look how it all turned out.
“Don’t worry, I don’t want that either.”
Dane hadn’t expected her to bring this up.
“If you’re worried, we can sign a prenuptial agreement.”
Claire immediately replied, “Let’s put that aside for now. But if you ever cheat on me,
I will divorce you on the spot!”
“And I’ll make sure we never cross paths again.”
She wasn’t making empty threats.
That single sentence sent a sharp ache through Dane’s chest.
“That day will never come!”
From that moment on, Dane became even more vigilant, terrified of ever falling into a trap.
His girl was downright ruthless.
If he ever slipped up in that department, Claire would genuinely erase him from her life.
Claire had no idea that her offhand comment had put the man on high alert.
The internet frenzy surrounding Jocelyn died down almost instantly.
Thanks to the Churchills flexing their power, discussions about Owen completely vanished from the web.
The few lingering comments were solely focused on Jocelyn.
It wasn’t until the next day that Jocelyn finally saw Larkin.
The moment he walked in, Larkin cut straight to the chase. “I’ve paid an extra six months’ rent on this apartment.”
“After today, we’re done.”
The color drained from Jocelyn’s face. “I’m pregnant, and you’re telling me we’re done?”
“Larkin, are you even a man?”
“I know your wife’s family is powerful and you’re too scared to divorce her, but you don’t have to treat me and the baby like this, do you?”
Tears began streaming down Jocelyn’s cheeks.
This was completely different from what she had envisioned.
She had planned to use the baby to convince Larkin to gift her the apartment, plus toss in a few million dollars for spending money and designer bags content
She was sensible enough not to demand a divorce, but she fully expected her fair share of the wealth!
She was carrying his child, after all!
“Whether I’m a man or not is something you’ve already experienced firsthand.”
“Don’t get greedy, little girl. You and I both know exactly who the father of that baby
is.”
“I’m giving you an extra six months out of respect for the time we spent together.”
“If
f you don’t want to stay, you’re free to pack up and leave right now.”
The old bastard was completely heartless!
Jocelyn turned pale.
It was only after Larkin walked out the door that reality finally hit her-this man was truly cutting her off.
What was she supposed to do now?
Caressing her stomach, Jocelyn decided to make one last desperate attempt.
She went looking for Regina.
As luck would have it, she sought her out on a weekend, exactly when Ophelia and Regina were out shopping together.
Regina happened to be complaining about her recent insomnia, loss of appetite, and short temper.
Ophelia suggested she see a doctor.
Somehow, the topic shifted to Claire.
“Claire’s medical skills are truly phenomenal.”
“She examined me once when I was dealing with the exact same symptoms. Said it was menopause.”
“Of course, if you don’t trust her, we can always find a regular doctor to check you out.”
Regina wasn’t foolish. She had heard that Claire had been studying medicine since childhood, and ber skills were highly respected by the
city’s elite.
Achieving so much at such a young age meant building a good relationship with her
now could only be beneficial.
Besides, Ophelia wasn’t the type to exaggerate.
If she was praising Claire, it meant the girl genuinely had talent.
“Let’s invite her out, then. It’s nice having a young girl around to take shopping. Cooping herself up at the university all day must be
her
exhausting for her.
