Chapter 1904
Regina’s own children were mostly left to their own devices.
So, she genuinely wanted Claire to relax a little.
She was in college, attending a top-tier university-why not enjoy her youth?
“I haven’t even bought her a proper gift yet. We should take her out and buy her some clothes today.”
Regina spoke as if Claire were her own niece.
It was the exact same treatment she gave her actual relatives.
Even though their blood ties were distant.
Ophelia guessed Regina was intentionally trying to win Claire over.
After all, Claire wasn’t just the granddaughter of the Churchill family; she was also engaged to Dane.
Despite Regina’s straightforward and somewhat blunt demeanor, she was exceptionally shrewd.
If she wasn’t, she never would have been able to leverage the Churchill connections
to build a massive empire from the ground up.
“I’ll call and see if she’s free.”
When Ophelia called, Claire had just returned from the clinic.
“Sure, I’ll come meet you guys.”
Claire agreed simply because she found Regina quite entertaining.
The two older women found a lovely cafe downtown. Claire headed straight there.
“Ophelia, Regina.”
Stepping inside, Claire spotted them sitting by the window.
They eagerly waved her over and ordered a mountain of treats for her.
“Order whatever you want, Claire.”
Ophelia was wealthy, but Regina was incredibly generous, too.
Claire finished a bowl of chocolate ice cream and enjoyed two small pastries.
“How is it?” Regina and her friends often came here for afternoon tea.
She knew the pastry chef personally; the desserts here were lower in sugar and calories.
Regina hadn’t exactly maintained her figure over the years, growing a bit robust. However, her radiant complexion was still impeccably maintained.
“Delicious!” Claire replied, happily giving face.
Regina beamed.
“Claire, Ophelia mentioned that you studied medicine. Do you think you could take a look at me?”
“I’ve been suffering from insomnia, bad dreams, a loss of appetite, and I’ve been incredibly irritable lately—”
Regina’s symptoms definitely sounded like menopause.
Claire asked her to extend her wrist

Putting on her professional doctor persona, Claire asked bluntly, “…a decreased interest in intimacy?”
Even someone as notoriously open and bold as Regina flushed bright red at the question.
It wouldn’t have mattered if Ophelia had asked, but Claire was just a young girl!
Still, she managed a nod. “I really haven’t had the drive for it recently.”
In the past, Regina had quite the healthy appetite. Whenever Larkin couldnt keep up, she didn’t mind looking for a little excitement elsewhere.
But over the past month, she had completely lost the urge.
ет
Things with Larkin were thoroughly passionless anyway. They were just going through the motions, and this month, they hadn’t even bothered doing that much.
“I’ll prescribe you something. A little regulation is all you need.”
“But the most important thing is to stay in good spirits.”
Whether she could actually stay in good spirits was another matter.
With Larkin’s affair and his young mistress making headlines, Regina’s mood was bound to be affected.
Regina let out a heavy sigh. “Honestly, Larkin and I have been living separate lives for a long time.”
“But there are a few wives in our social circle who can’t stand me, and they recognized him.”
“Oh my, what a surprise to see you out for afternoon tea, Regina!”
Before Regina could even finish her sentence, the very women who loved to provoke her materialized right beside their table.
