Chapter 1615

“No, it’s not a place for us!”
Zara shook her head frantically, terrified her friends would think she was rushing down the aisle.
“He bought an apartment in your building.”
“He usually just lives in a basic, modern setup, but he wants to fully renovate this one for me to live in.”
Zara’s family was incredibly wealthy; they definitely didn’t lack real estate.
But this apartment was a gift from Reid, a gesture of his affection.
So Zara happily accepted.
Since they were both loaded, they didn’t care if the place was old or new-they were going to gut and remodel it anyway.
“I’m just going to check out the layout and talk to the designers about the aesthetic.”
Reid had given her full creative control over the renovation.
He would handle all the logistics and bills; Zara just needed to point at what she liked.
Seeing Zara look so smug, Claire couldn’t help but laugh. “You and Reid really are perfect for each other.”
“I guess older guys really do know how to spoil their girls.”
Zara playfully glared at Claire. “You’re teasing me, but didn’t you get yourself an older guy too?”
“I’m guessing ‘older guys know how to spoil their girls’ is coming from personal experience?”
Claire hadn’t expected the joke to be flipped back on her.
She shrugged, completely unfazed. “You’re right. It is personal experience.”
“Whenever Dane and I go out, he handles everything. I literally don’t even have to use my brain.”
Claire’s casual admission sounded like a massive flex.
“Ugh, you guys are making me want to date so badly.” Skylar wasn’t lacking in suitors, but she had set her sights on Yanis Mercer right from the start.
With Yanis’s stunning looks, barely anyone at The Cabinda University could even compare.
That was the danger of meeting someone breathtaking too early.
It ruined everyone else for you.
“Yanis doesn’t have a girlfriend yet,” Zara casually dropped into the conversation.
Skylar aggressively shook her head. “No, no way. We can be friends, but dating him? The pressure would kill me.”
She had been ambitious at first, but after spending time with Yanis, her confidence had completely evaporated.
Yanis lived a flawlessly curated, hyper-luxurious lifestyle that she could never adapt to.
They existed in two completely different worlds.
It wasn’t just the wealth gap; their entire mindsets clashed.
That said, she still deeply appreciated his face.

If he ever spoke to her like that, she knew she wouldn’t be able to handle it.
She’d probably end up screaming at him in tears.
No, being friends was much safer.
They could hang out, grab dinner, and she could freely admire his gorgeous face without any emotional risk.
If she confessed and got rejected, they wouldn’t even be friends anymore. It would just be awkward.
Skylar firmly believed she was making the smart choice by backing off.
Yanis, of course, had picked up on her crush.

However, he was highly satisfied with the boundaries Skylar had. drawn Being friends weasy being lovers was a nightmare.
Very few people could tolerate his actual personality.
“I can’t believe you gave up so easily.” Zara actually felt a bit disappointed.
She had never seen Yanis date a normal girl, but Skylar could have been the first!
Dating Yanis was definitely a win; he spoiled the girls in his circle relentlessly.
Claire, on the other hand, completely understood Skylar’s logic.
If it wasn’t going to work out, it was better to bury the feelings early.
Skylar hadn’t always been this level-headed; she used to get swept up in the romance too.
