Chapter 1660

When they went to buy gifts, everyone assumed Randall wouldn’t tag along, but he had explicitly asked to join them.
Now that he was acting like a total buzzkill, the rest of the group didn’t know what to say.
Dr. Terrance, always the peacekeeper, stepped in. “Randall, if it’s so unhealthy, just don’t drink it.”
“I didn’t hear you complaining when Claire ordered it for you earlier.”
“Tell you what, give yours to me. I wanted to see what that new flavor tasted like anyway.”
Dr. Terrance reached out to grab the cup.
Randall swatted his hand away. “No way. I’ve already drank from it.”
“I don’t mind!” Dr. Terrance said with a cheeky smile.
“If you drink two of these, will you even have room for anything else?” Randall knew exactly how to hit where it hurt.
Sure enough, Dr. Terrance remembered he only had one stomach.
“Sigh, why can’t I be like a cow and have four stomachs?”
Claire covered her mouth to hide a laugh. Randall was clearly all talk; he complained about it being unhealthy, but he was drinking his boba faster than anyone else. He was obviously hooked.
“How about this small restaurant? There’s a huge line outside, so it must be good.”
They had finished their drinks and shared an order of sweet pastries to take the edge off their hunger.
Now it was time to find a place for an actual meal.
While the snacks had helped, everyone agreed they wanted to sit down and try some authentic local cuisine.
“Sure, sure, this place looks great. Let’s just agree not to order too much. I still want to buy more street food after this.”
Dr. Terrance really was like an overgrown child.
The other doctors were speechless.
They got incredibly lucky. Because they had such a large group, they managed to secure a private dining room.
It was a semi-private room with a great view of the bustling street below.
It was perfectly sized for their party.
Once they sat down, they immediately began passing the menu around. “Let’s get the boiled lamb.”
“Liver stew and quick-fried tripe. I heard those are absolute must-tries here.” “Let’s order some sweet bean pastries. They say they melt in your mouth.”
“If it’s really that good, I’m packing an order to take back to the hotel.” “And let’s get a portion of…”
Everyone had something they wanted to try. The older doctors chattered away like excited students.
Claire finally raised her hand to interject. Professors, how about we each just pick one dish? That Way we get to taste a huge variety of flavors,
“Otherwise, if we order too much, it’ll just go to waste.”
Everyone immediately agreed with Claire’s logic.
One dish per person. If two people wanted the same thing, they would skip a dish
and order something else later if they were still hungry.
After a thirty-minute wait, the table

“This is why it’s great hanging out with the younger crowd. You kids are so smart.”
“Try this roasted lamb. It’s perfectly cooked, no gamey taste at all. I wonder what their secret is.”
“This broth is amazing too. It’s light, but the flavor is incredibly complex.”
The doctors eagerly recommended their favorite dishes to each other.
Claire tasted a bit of everything, and it was genuinely delicious.
A lively, hole-in-the-wall spot like this might not rival a Michelin-starred restaurant,
but it possessed its own unique, comforting charm.
The street outside was loud and bustling, but suddenly, Claire heard a sharp ‘Bang!’ ring out over the noise.
She immediately dropped her silverware and looked out the window.
Rory and Jace were stationed just outside. At the sound of the gunshot, one of them looked toward Claire while the other scanned the street for the source of the noise.
“Someone’s been shot!”
She couldn’t tell who shouted it first.
“What are they yelling about outside? Someone got shot?”
Dr. Randall had incredibly sharp ears.
