Chapter 1738
[ 560 words ]
Tandy had suggested she check on Silas to make some notes, since cases like his were incredibly rare.
Speaking of rare cases, Claire cast a glance at Lucas.
His upcoming surgery would be a textbook anomaly. She made a mental note to call Mary and ask if she wanted to visit Cabinda for a while.
Since the case was so unprecedented, Mary would definitely want to see it firsthand.
With her decades of clinical experience, she might even be able to provide some groundbreaking insights.
Claire was always a woman of action. The moment she stepped out, she went straight to Tandy.
She shared her idea of inviting Mary to Cabinda to observe Lucas’s case.
“Absolutely! We can formally invite Mary to stay for a few months. She’s a legend! Even if she doesn’t operate, having her give lectures would be incredible!”
“To be completely honest, ever since you mentioned she was teaching at Apex Traditional Medicine University, I’ve been incredibly jealous.”
“Teaching is teaching. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind doing it here at the hospital, right?”
Tandy’s eyes lit up with excitement. He truly was a workaholic forged on the battlefield.
At his age, he was still agonizing over the overall skill level of the military surgeons.
Shouldn’t the hospital director be the one worrying about this?
Given Tandy’s qualifications, he easily deserved to be the director.
Why was he still just a department head?
Claire unknowingly voiced her thoughts out loud. Tandy chuckled at the young woman’s curiosity. “The role of director carries heavy political weight and administrative duties. It’s not for everyone.”
“I hate playing politics. I prefer staying on the front lines.”
His explanation made perfect sense.
Claire realized that Tandy and Mary were cut from the exact same cloth.
They both just wanted to excel in their respective fields without dealing with the bureaucratic red tape.
“You and Mary will definitely have a lot in common.”
“I’ll call her right now. If she agrees, you can send the formal invitation. Sound good?”
“Of course! That’s perfect,” Tandy agreed immediately.
“Go make that call.”
And Claire did just that.
Mary currently only taught two
classes a week. She lived in the
countryside, and drove to honet
university, heading straight home afterward.
Twice a week, she had to see her son working as a security guard at the gate.
Mary had a heart of stone when it
came to him; she didn’t feel an
ounce of embarrassment about
being a prestigious professor with a
security guard for a son.
But Latham felt utterly humiliated having his professor mother see him like that.
When Mary heard Claire’s invitation
to stay in Cabinda and the
knowledge with the top doctors at the central hospital one agrend without a second thought
However, her current university wasn’t going to let her go easily.
Principal Garrison practically hugged her legs, begging her to stay.
It wasn’t until Mary recommended a retired head surgeon to take over her classes that he reluctantly let her go.
She reassured him she wasn’t quitting entirely just leaving for a few months of academic exchange.
If he still refused to let her leave, he would just be completely unreasonable.
But the Principal was a shrewd man. He was one of the few who knew the security guard was Mary’s bankrupt son.
With her son working here, there was no way Professor Hastings would stay in Cabinda forever, right?
If she tried to leave permanently, he’d use the guard as leverage!
If Mary knew what the Principal was plotting, she would have told him to go right ahead and keep the useless son!
