Chapter 1746

A show like that would be a complete breeze for him.
He was absolutely certain he would outshine everyone else.
As for finding a wealthy patron, once he was on TV for millions to see, the patrons would come looking for him.
Still, both Yolande and Claire were proving far more difficult to manipulate than he had anticipated.
It left him deeply frustrated.
Claire couldn’t care less about the trash floating around in Yorick’s head. She took a leisurely stroll back to her apartment.
Just as she expected, Priscilla and Mary were deep in a passionate discussion about the mysteries of medicine.
One was lecturing with intense focus, and the other was hanging onto every word.
Claire didn’t want to interrupt, so she quietly walked past them to water the fig trees on the balcony.
She had bought them a while ago, and they had already come with tiny, unripe fruits.
They weren’t ready to eat yet, but with enough water and fertilizer, she’d definitely be harvesting fresh figs by next month.
She had bought three trees, all different varieties.
She was going to see which one tasted best and buy more of that kind next year!
“You’re back, Claire?” Mary had finally finished answering Priscilla’s questions and realized her granddaughter was home.
“Are you two hungry? If you are, we can go eat now. If not, we can wait another half hour.”
It was only eleven. Claire wasn’t hungry at all since she had just drank a whole glass of lemonade.
“Let’s wait a bit. Priscilla has way too many questions.” Mary looked at her grand- niece, who was practically a toddler asking “why” every five seconds.
How was she a medical student at Cabinda University and still acting like a curious little kid?
While Mary patiently tutored her grand-niece, Claire went into the study to mess around with her own projects.
By the time they finally remembered to eat, it was nearly noon.
There wasn’t a peep coming from the living room. Were they really not starving?
Honestly, they had completely forgotten about food. Mary was a walking encyclopedia, and Priscilla was a sponge.
It wasn’t until Claire interrupted them.
“Are you two not hungry yet?”
Priscilla rubbed her stomach. “Okay, yeah, I’m starving.”
Mary agreed it was time to eat.
“Alright, let’s head out.”
Claire drove them. “The restaurants right outside campus will be packed with
students right now, so let’s go a bit further out.”
“Further out” ended up being just a ten-minute drive.
They arrived at a highly-rated local diner.
Claire handed the menu to Mary, who picked out a few dishes.
“These are authentic Cabinda recipes. I haven’t had this in years,” Mary remarked as she took her first bite.
Priscilla didn’t even look up from her plate. “This is so much better than the food near campus.”
The restaurants around the university catered to students, so their main selling point was being cheap.
Whether the food actually tasted good was highly debatable.
At best, it was edible.
This diner however, catered to the locals. If the neighborhood residents didn’t like it, a hole-in-the-wall place like this would have gone out of business years ago.
They only opened for breakfast and lunch, completely skipping dinner.
The owner owned the building and came from a long line of Cabinda locals.
He was the head chef and ran the business entirely on his own terms.
Clearly, the place had incredible word-of-mouth, judging by the endless stream of customers.
“Ever since Logan’s diner went viral
online, we’ve been getting way too many outsiderseating here,

His buddy nodded in agreement. “More people means better
for
Logan, but it’s causing Usiness
jams in the alley, which is a pain.”
“True. But it’s good that Logan is making more money. His granddaughter’s medical
bills are astronomical.”
