Chapter 1766

So that was the connection. Everything clicked into place for Yvette.
No wonder Claire had claimed she could help Quentin recover. It wasn’t because her medical skills were miraculous; it was because she had a direct line to Quentin’s grandmother.
Perhaps this powerful mother-in-law had the connections to bring in world-class specialists.
“I see! It’s an honor to meet you, Pandora.”
Yvette politely greeted her before turning to Claire, her gaze warming significantly. “Did you know about the connection between our families beforehand, Claire?”
Otherwise, why would she have visited her son out of the blue?
Queenie was slightly confused by the question, so Claire quickly clarified, “No, I had no idea. I was just dropping my cousin off and tagged along.”
Hearing this, Yvette felt a wave of relief.
If Claire had known all along, there was no reason Queenie would have only just arrived to claim her grandson.
“It seems Quentin and Claire were meant to cross paths,” Queenie noted with a fond smile.
She then turned to her old friend, Pandora. “It’s a real shame you already engaged Claire to Dane from The Green Family. Otherwise, my grandson would have been a perfect match.”
Pandora shot Queenie an unamused glare. “I didn’t arrange anything. And frankly, I think Dane is far better suited for her.”
Pandora was notoriously sharp-tongued.
She didn’t pull her punches, and her eyes deliberately flicked over to Yvette and Evie.
With a mother who lacked situational awareness and a childhood ‘friend’ who wore her petty schemes on her sleeve, Quentin couldn’t hold a candle to Dane.
Queenie instantly caught the underlying critique-Pandora wasn’t exactly thrilled with her grandson’s current situation.
She let out a soft sigh. Ultimately, he hadn’t been raised by her side. Molding him was going to take a considerable amount of time.
Yvette’s heart fluttered at the exchange. If Claire could end up with her son, it would be a phenomenal match.
But her son was currently crippled, and while she had no idea who this Dane person was, he was undeniably in a stronger position to win Claire over.
What mother didn’t want a brilliant, exceptional daughter-in-law?
She suddenly completely understood Queenie’s disappointment. Being a mother-in- law really was a universal experience.
Evie was the only one practically vibrating with rage.
Were they just going to treat her like she was invisible?
Desperate to assert her dominance, she stepped forward. “Hello, Queenie. I’m Evie Grant. I’m Quentin’s…”
“Evie!” Yvette snapped, her voice harsh and commanding.
Queenie gave a polite, detached nod.
“Hello,
Grant. It must be quite

*At least she recognizes my effort,* Evie thought bitterly. *So stop trying to pair Quentin off with random women! He’s mine!*
A secret, thrilling suspicion bloomed in Evie’s mind: this grandmother wasn’t some
destitute relative. She had likely arrived with a massive fortune.
Was Quentin about to go from being comfortably wealthy to obscenely rich?
Her mind raced with the possibilities.
“Let’s go see Quentin. After I’ve seen the boy, we can all have lunch together, and I’ll show you the documents proving Julian was my son.”
Queenie had zero interest in wasting time trading veiled insults with a petty young
girl.
Yvette nodded eagerly. “Of course.”
Inside the room, Quentin had been waiting ever since his mother told him his biological grandmother was coming to meet him.
He had stared at the door for ages, but nobody had walked in.
Even his mother and Evie had mysteriously vanished.
His nurse was still there, offering him water, but his nerves were too

Just as boredom and anxiety were eating him alive, the door finally swung open.
“Quentin, this is the woman I told you about…” Yvette walked in first, gently making the introduction.
The moment Queenie laid eyes on her grandson, desperately searching his face for traces of her late husband and son, tears immediately blurred her visions
