Chapter 1784

“I heard you’re a genius at school. I admire you so much.”

“I’m terrible at academics. I was so terrified of failing my college exams that I took up drawing. And now, I’m not even doing a real job.”

“I just draw comics to make a living.”

“I wonder if it’s my job that made Finnian turn me down.”

Claire was genuinely surprised. Yara was a comic artist?

She had to be doing quite well for herself, considering the designer clothes she was wearing weren’t cheap.

“Don’t look at me like that. I still live off my family. I barely make pennies from drawing comics.”

Yara explained, easily guessing what was going through Claire’s mind.

“Well, your family background must be solid, so Finnian definitely wouldn’t look down on you because of your career.”

“After all, your background more than makes up for any perceived shortcomings.”

“Besides, isn’t being a comic artist great? You have freedom and you get to make money.” Claire didn’t actually think it was a shortcoming at all, despite acknowledging Yara’s phrasing.

However, she knew some people preferred spouses with traditional, stable jobs. To them, a comic artist might seem like someone living paycheck to paycheck.

“It makes money, sure, but the freedom part is a myth. Sometimes my fans hound me so hard for updates I feel like I’m going bald.”

“Look at my hair. Doesn’t it look thin? My hairline is totally receding.”

Yara leaned in close to Claire, insisting she inspect her scalp.

“Oh, right! My sister mentioned you’re a medical student. Does your medical school have any secret remedies for curing baldness?”

“Are there any professors secretly researching this?”

Claire thought to herself that Yara was almost too energetic.

A stoic guy like Finnian would probably have a very hard time resisting her.

It might not even take three months before Finnian was wrapped around her finger.

“There actually is something.” Claire suddenly had a flash of inspiration. Hair loss was a common issue with a massive demand for remedies.

“In traditional medicine, we use Oriental Arborvitae leaves and Soapberry…”

Claire rattled off a specific herbal formula.

“You can get the ingredients yourself, boil them down, and wash your hair with it. It significantly reduces hair loss.”

“You could also buy premade stuff online, but there’s no telling how effective commercial products actually are.”

Yara sighed heavily. “I’ve bought a few herbal shampoos, but they didn’t really do much.”

“Especially for the kind of baldness you get from pulling all-nighters.”

Claire hesitated for a moment. “Well, you could always choose not to stay up all night.”

Yara’s face immediately fell. “It’s not that I want to stay up all night, I just can’t help it.”

“My inspiration always hits harder at night than during the day. It’s just a habit now.” Claire didn’t have any other practical medical advice for that.

She thought about it for a second.

“In that case, maybe you really

Claire’s actual point was that Finnian, coming from a military background, had an incredibly disciplined routine.

But Yara immediately interpreted it as needing some romantic, physical harmony to balance her out.

She shot Claire an enthusiastic thumbs-up. “You’re totally right! I absolutely need to make Finnian mine!”

Otherwise, who else was going to put up with her going bald?

If she kept dragging her feet, she’d be toxic and completely undateable!

Claire was speechless. “…Good luck with that.”

The two stepped out of the elevator. One headed to her own apartment, while the other up and knocked on the neighbor’s door.

As soon as Claire walked into her place, Rory and Jace greeted her, each clutching

a massive bucket of popcorn.

The two female bodyguards who lived next door had shadowed Claire today, which meant Rory and Jace had enjoyed a rare day off at home.

“We heard the door next door. Did you come up in the elevator with Yara?”

Claire hadn’t realized her two bodyguards were such massive gossips. “We did come up together. What are you two doing?”
