Chapter 1803
[ 612 words ]
If Bianca showed up to class looking like that, people would secretly text her ex to
ask what was going on.
He simply replied that they had broken up.
Some people even felt indignant on Bianca’s behalf.
One of them was an older friend from college who had stayed on as a teaching assistant.
He happened to know Bianca and asked about her when he saw her on campus. “Broken up? Why? She looks terrible. Did she have a miscarriage or something?” “You better not be playing the heartless jerk!”
He used to grab late-night snacks with the couple from time to time.
On campus, he had taken care of Bianca even more than her own boyfriend did.
At first, it was just looking out for a younger student and a buddy’s girlfriend. But somewhere along the line, he had developed unspoken feelings for her.
Since her ex had mentioned they were planning to get married, the teaching assistant never tried to steal her away.
Still, that didn’t stop him from quietly caring for her.
Now, suddenly hearing they had split up, his heart began to race wildly.
His first thought was that his chance had finally arrived.
His second thought was anger-how dared that punk let her down!
It was too much!
“I was planning to marry her. How could I ever let her down?”
The ex’s voice was low and heavy.
The assistant sensed something was off. “What happened? Did she initiate the breakup?”
“Why? Did you make her feel unappreciated?”
“Girls need to be pampered. Don’t tell me you ignored her feelings just because you were busy with work.”
“She found a better option. After all, I’m just a guy struggling to make a living.”
The shock in the assistant’s voice was impossible to hide. “She isn’t that kind of girl, is she?”
“Then why does she look so awful? Is she heartbroken over the split?”
The ex had actually noticed his friend’s feelings a long time ago. But since the assistant was a gentleman who never crossed the line, he hadn’t distanced himself.
Looking at it now, the guy really did like Bianca.
Remembering how Dane had helped him, he decided to give the assistant
a gentle warning. “If she looksista
terrible, it might be because she’s sick. Content
SWIT
“Sick?” The assistant grew even more worried. “How did she get sick? She usually seems so healthy.”
The ex didn’t elaborate. He figured the hint was enough for his friend to piece things together.
Mainly, as soon as the assistant mentioned Bianca looking awful, the ex guessed she had probably lost the baby.
Bianca had thought Yanni would treat her with the same absolute devotion he had.
Unfortunately, Yanni was clearly not that kind of man.
“I wouldn’t know. We’ve already broken up, after all.”
A breakup meant cutting all ties. His thoughts on her situation were just guesses.
He couldn’t go around spreading rumors.
The assistant frowned. “Alright. Can you really let her go?”
“You guys were so deeply in love.”
The ex offered a self-deprecating laugh. “It’s
let here not about whether I can
let her go. She made her choice between me and someone else a long time ago.”
He thought he had made himself perfectly clear.
What he didn’t expect was that when he eventually returned from abroad, he would
find the assistant and Bianca officially together.
Bianca was truly something else. The guy had liked her to begin with, and with just a little encouragement, he was completely devoted to her.
Of course, that was a story for another time.
After returning to campus, Claire gave Dane a call to share Bianca’s current situation.
Dane didn’t find it surprising at all. “He probably doesn’t care about these things anymore.”
Claire knew Dane wasn’t one to meddle in other people’s business.
It was perfectly normal that he didn’t tell her ex. It would allow him to focus entirely
on studying and working abroad.
