Chapter 1830
[ 610 words ]
Claire was completely lost.
“Because she’s been sneaking out to inhale Finnian White’s cooking.”
“Rory practically smuggled a takeout box just for her.”
Dewitt sounded incredibly bitter, though it was unclear if it was because he missed out on the food.
In reality, Silas’s culinary skills were on par with his own-they were both pretty solid at tossing together a massive feast.
But as far as Dewitt was concerned, Mabel trashing Silas’s cooking was a direct insult to his own.
Naturally, he had to defend his boy’s honor.
“Well, Finnian is practically a master chef,” Claire admitted without missing a beat.
But a second later, she flashed Dewitt a sweet smile. “You’re pretty great in the kitchen too, Dewitt.”
“I stuffed myself into a coma during the holidays.”
Mabel finally realized why Dewitt had been throwing daggers at her all night. The guy was seriously nursing a bruised ego over another man’s cooking?
“I know you’re mad, Dewitt,” Mabel smirked, “but honestly, both of your skills combined couldn’t hold a candle to Finnian.”
Dewitt shot her an icy glare. “Why don’t I just gift-wrap you and drop you at his doorstep?”
Mabel looked absolutely thrilled by the idea!
Claire stared at the ceiling. That’s the second woman actively plotting to marry Finnian.
Yara Yarrow hadn’t even locked him down yet, and she already had brutal competition.
Mabel’s eyes practically sparkled. “God, I wish!”
Rory hadn’t managed to make a move despite being right there. Did Mabel really stand a chance?
“You guys need to stop obsessing over one guy,” Claire laughed. “Don’t we have anyone in our own ranks with decent culinary talent?”
Dewitt immediately brought up his mom. “My mom’s a total prodigy. She handles the catering for practically every major event back home.”
Whenever she got swamped, she hauled her brother’s family in for backup.
His grandfather had run the catering gig back in the day anyway.
Now that his grandfather was retired, his uncle and aunt were keeping the legacy alive.
“Then we should have Patti run a boot camp for the guys. They can’t just survive on takeout forever,” Claire joked.
She threw the comment out on purpose.
Before Dewitt could even agree, Mabel aggressively stared in the opposite direction.
Her jaw tightened instantly-she clearly had zero interest in stepping foot in a kitchen.
“I am exclusively dating a man who can cook!”
Seeing Dewitt and Claire staring at her, Mabel threw a punch in the air for emphasis.
Claire slapped her forehead. Her security team was incredibly lethal, but socially, they were absolute wildcards.
They weren’t even dating yet, and they already had terrifyingly specific demands.
They spent the evening feasting at
Pandora
estate, and right
old lady ushered them off to permet
their rooms and crash Conter
Because the estate was massive, Len had actually scored a room too.
The three girls were cramming into one massive suite, leaving Len free to claim any of the sprawling guest rooms.
Claire honestly wanted her own room-she desperately needed the peace and quiet.
But getting any sleep around those two chaotic sleepers was a lost cause.
nite
The next day, Claire still had to hit the hospital for her rounds and drop by Ewan Has place. She was only free in the evening for the live broadcast with Shirley and the crew.
She powered through her daytime schedule, but when she swung by
Ewan’s place that affers!
found Yolande standing right there.
Something snapped violently in Claire’s brain.
“Yolande, what are you doing at Ewan’s place?”
They were high school classmates. Were they secretly hooking up this whole time?
She had noticed Ewan staring at Yolande like a starving wolf before, but Yolande had always seemed totally oblivious.
Yolande scrambled to explain. “It’s not what you think. I just bumped into Ewan today.”
Claire scowled, suddenly noticing a bright, raw redness on Yolande’s cheek. “Who hit you?”
Claire’s expression instantly darkened into pure ice.
