Chapter 1836

It was a light-up headband.
“Sorry, we’re not fans of these guys. I only have eyes for my favorite,” Shirley declared. She never forgot she was Oakley’s ultimate fan.
The girl wasn’t discouraged. She smiled brightly. “That’s fine! I love Oakley’s movies too, but you can still support Keegan!”
She enthusiastically pitched her favorite contestant. He was a classically trained dancer with a great physique and stunning moves. His only weakness was his singing.
“I know his vocals aren’t the best right now, but he’ll improve with training! Plus, every boy band needs a lead dancer, and that’s definitely Keegan!”
Sophia leaned in, intrigued. “What’s his name? We’ll cheer for him.”
“Keegan Townsend!” the girl beamed, continuing her sales pitch.
Honestly, Claire couldn’t see what was so special about the photo the girl held. With all the stage makeup, it was hard to tell him apart from the others. But the girl wasn’t wrong—when Keegan stepped on stage for his intro and delivered an impromptu solo, he was undeniably talented. Claire found his performance genuinely captivating.
After a long wait, Yorick Thorne finally took the stage.
Yorick was an expert at packaging himself. He played the role of the hardworking underdog, winning the audience’s sympathy. He claimed he didn’t care about fame; he just wanted his dancing to be seen.
“I might not be naturally gifted, but I want to prove to everyone that hard work pays off. If you don’t give up, you’ll be seen!” Yorick declared.
He had the looks and the charisma. Even non-fans were cheering for him. And to an untrained eye, his dancing was highly impressive.
“Damn it, this Yorick guy is definitely Keegan’s biggest rival. Where did he even come from?” the girl sitting behind them muttered. “I checked the training camp records, and he was never on the roster. Did he buy his way in?”
Claire recognized the voice. It was the same girl who had approached them earlier. Hearing her complain to her friends, Claire turned around. The girl waved cheerfully.
“Wow, what a coincidence! How did you guys score these seats? You must have connections with the organizers.”
The girl clearly had connections of her own. Claire smiled politely. “My friends wanted to see the show, so I asked an uncle for tickets.”
The girl leaned forward, lowering her voice. “I’m Macy Franklin. I go to Cabinda Arts Academy.”
Hearing her school, Claire
immediately thought of Caleb’s
mother who taught there. Looking
closely at Macy’s facial structure Claire could see a striking
resemblance to Professor Achilles.
“Do you know a Professor Achilles at your school?” Claire asked on a hunch. “You look a lot like her.”
Macy’s eyes widened. “You know Professor Achilles? She’s my aunt!”
