Chapter 1844
[ 486 words ]
Given the Churchills’ massive wealth, very few people actually cared about Claire’s rural upbringing. Those waiting to see Dane make a fool of himself were going to be severely disappointed.
“What are you thinking about?” Claire asked, poking Dane’s side.
She accidentally jabbed his waist. Dane shifted and caught her hand.
Claire looked up at him. “What’s wrong?”
Dane didn’t answer. He simply held her hand, tracing her knuckles in a slow, hypnotic rhythm.
Since Pandora was already asleep, they stayed outside in the courtyard. The cool night breeze brushed past them, and their close proximity hung heavy with unspoken tension.
“Claire, you still have years before you graduate. Don’t tempt me right now,” he murmured.
Claire knew exactly what he meant. “I might have years left, but I can still collect some interest in advance.”
Seeing his tightly coiled restraint made her heart flutter.
Her whispered words caught Dane’s ear. His grip on her hand tightened. “Are you sure you want me to collect interest?”
Looking at his deeply suppressed desire, Claire suddenly stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against his.
A dangerous fire ignited in Dane’s eyes. “You brought this on yourself,” he rasped.
His arm banded around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest. When a willing prey offered itself, a predator didn’t hold back. His kiss was intense and demanding, sweeping over her lips with a potent mix of patience and raw power.
Claire instinctively wrapped her arms around his waist. When they finally parted, they were both breathless.
Dane looked devastatingly alluring,
his usual control completely
fractured. Claire’s lips were swollt
and red her eyes shimmering with a heavy, intoxicating Haze.
Pulling her into a tight embrace, Dane let out a ragged sigh. “I told you not to tempt me.”
She was driving him insane. If his self-control wasn’t absolute, he would have taken her right there in the courtyard.
“Didn’t you tempt me too?” Claire’s voice was breathy, laced with a seductive tremor that sent a jolt straight to Dane’s core.
He ran a hand through her hair. “Alright. Go to sleep. I need to head back.”
“And don’t think you’re off the hook for tonight’s stunt. Next time

something like this happens, let the bodyguards handle it. You are n allowed to fight.”
Watching the security footage had nearly stopped his heart. He didn’t fear danger for himself, but seeing Claire in the middle of a brawd was terrifying
He pinched her cheek lightly. “Be good. You’re already in enough danger as it is.”
Claire knew exactly what he was referring to and didn’t argue. “I promise. I’ll be careful next time.”
Meanwhile, in his car, Caleb was relentlessly lecturing his cousin.
Macy knew she was in the wrong and didn’t dare say a word. Keegan, however, kept apologizing.
“It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have brought her out for late-night food. It’s dangerous for a girl to be out that late…”
Keegan kept rambling, but Caleb wasn’t interested in his excuses. He cut him off smoothly. “What exactly is your relationship with Macy?”
