Chapter 1845
[ 534 words ]
“We…” Keegan glanced at Macy.
Macy spoke up faster. “Caleb, we’re just friends! He’s my childhood neighbor. Don’t you remember? You met him when you used to visit our house!”
Caleb smiled gently. “I remember. When he was a kid, he climbed a tree, got stuck, and sat on a branch crying with snot running down his face.”
One sentence annihilated both of them. Macy stared in horror, while Keegan flushed crimson, wishing the ground would swallow him whole.
“I… I don’t have a runny nose anymore,” Keegan stammered. He knew Caleb was generally nice, but the man had a terrifying aura. With his ever-present smile, Caleb looked like he could see right through people’s souls.
Swallowing his embarrassment, Keegan decided to be honest. “Caleb, Macy and I are dating. But I promise you, I would never disrespect her, and I’ll never let anyone hurt her.”
Macy panicked. “Why would you tell him that? You’re about to debut as an idol! You can’t let people know you’re dating!”
Caleb looked at his foolish cousin in exasperation. He hadn’t expected Macy to be so deeply ingrained in idol culture that she’d protect a guy’s career over their relationship. Keegan was willing to admit it openly, yet she was trying to shove him back into the closet.
“Macy, if I lied, Caleb would be furious,” Keegan explained gently. He didn’t know Caleb well, but he understood protective brothers. No man wanted to see his little sister getting played. He wanted to be an entertainer, but his feelings for Macy were genuine. They had grown up together, and she was his first love. He had never planned on hiding it.
Macy, brainwashed by the idol industry, thought going public would ruin his career. She wanted a secret relationship hoping they could go publicorice he was established, or just never confirm the rumors. With his looks and talent, he was guaranteed to attract a massive fanbase.
“Macy is actually right. If you enter the entertainment industry and go public with a relationship, the
backlash will be massive,” Caleb net
pointed out. More accurately,

Keegan would never get famous if
his fans found out they were funding his relationship.
“I know, but I don’t care,” Keegan said earnestly. “I’m doing this because I genuinely love performing. I don’t care about the fame, and my family doesn’t need the money But my feelings for Macy are reab We’ve known each other forever, and she’s the only girl I’ve ever loved.”
Keegan’s sincerity was obvious.
Caleb mentally sighed. He was a single guy; he had no business policing his cousin’s love life.
“I don’t care when you started liking her or how long it lasts. But she cannot get hurt because of you. If you ever make this public, you need to guarantee her safety. Don’t put her in danger like you did tonight.”
Keegan’s face burned with shame. He had messed up tonight. But if it happened again, he would still choose to protect her.
“I’m not saying you were wrong to defend her. I’m saying you need to be smarter about it,” Caleb clarified, not wanting to be misunderstood.
Macy jumped in eagerly. “Caleb, don’t be mad at him! He stepped up immediately to protect me instead of worrying about his reality show. That’s a huge deal!”
