Chapter 1772
[ 549 words ]
Queenie didn’t particularly care if her grandson’s reputation suffered, but Yvette wasn’t cut out for handling public scandals, especially since she had to return to Montara.
Queenie’s words were a subtle reminder, not a strict command.
Yvette understood this and felt nothing but gratitude toward her mother-in-law.
“Don’t worry, I already transferred some spending money to her account, and I’ll send her a substantial gift once I’m back.”
Queenie was pleased with her daughter-in-law’s perceptiveness.
Claire and Pandora mostly focused on their food in silence.
Had Queenie and Yvette not insisted they join, neither would have attended the lunch.
For Queenie, despite only having one grandson left, her luck wasn’t entirely terrible.
This grandson wasn’t a lost cause.
He might be a dancer, but he wasn’t a fool.
A slight nudge was all it took for him to read between the lines.
Before heading back to the hospital, Quentin approached Claire. “Claire, you mentioned before that you had a way to help me recover. Was that true?”
“How long would it take?”
Claire wasn’t eager to get involved in his affairs.
“I can’t guarantee anything. If Queenie can find you a top-tier specialist, I suggest you explore those options first.”
Whether Claire lacked confidence or was simply put off by Evie’s previous hostility, her refusal to help was definitive.
“Alright. Thank you anyway, Claire. And please thank Yolande for me. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have held onto the hope of walking again.”
“Keep your chin up.”
Claire didn’t engage further, deliberately avoiding any mention of Yolande.
Quentin lowered his gaze, masking the disappointment in his eyes.
He had fallen hard for Yolande, but she seemed to view him purely as a classmate.
Or perhaps a friend.
Their bond was slightly deeper than typical peers, but it ended there.
When he broke his leg, he had been secretly relieved that he hadn’t confessed his feelings. As a cripple, he felt entirely unworthy of such an elegant swan
Now, he didn’t dare bring it up because he wasn’t healed yet.
Quentin clenched his fists. He had to recover first; only then could he think about a future.
“By the way, there’s something else you should know,” Claire said, ignoring whatever internal battle he was fighting.
Quentin looked up, bewildered.
Claire stated, “I ran into Yolande’s other partner, Yorick Thorne, a while back.”
“After your accident, he took your
place and went abroad for the
second competition. When you think about it, he was the biggest
beneficiary of your fall.” Content”
Yolande had competed internationally twice.
After her first return, her mother had furiously arranged blind dates for her. The second competition had taken place just recently. .net>
She had been back for less than a month.
She had won awards both times, catching the eye of a prestigious dance troupe.
The troupe had originally been interested in Quentin as well, but his injury forced him to withdraw from the second competition.
He had missed his shot.
“Have you ever considered that your accident might not have been a simple twist of fate?”
If it weren’t for her respect for Queenie, Claire wouldn’t have said a word.
She assumed she wouldn’t have much interaction with Quentin in the future anyway. Quentin’s expression darkened. “How could he? Just to get a spot in the competition?”
From what Quentin knew, Yorick had won an award alongside Yolande, but his performance was widely considered lackluster.
In fact, many viewed Yorick as the weakest link in their duet.
He had nearly ruined the entire routine.
