Chapter 1773
[ 503 words ]
Quentin suddenly remembered the scattered beans he had stepped on the night he fell. If Yorick was truly behind it, the malice was chilling!
He had slipped and plummeted off the stage.
He hadn’t filed a police report.
Even he believed it was a tragic accident.
But what if those beans were intentionally placed?
Too much time had passed, and finding hard evidence to pin it on Yorick would be near impossible.
Yorick had a motive, but he could easily claim Quentin was making wild accusations out of jealousy.
All because he wanted revenge for Yorick taking the international gold medal. “Thank you for telling me, Claire. I’ll have someone look into this.”
“If your fall was truly orchestrated by this person, I will make sure he pays dearly.”
While Quentin hesitated to seek vengeance, Queenie had no intention of letting it slide.
Initially, Claire had been confident in her deduction, but Queenie’s ruthless certainty made her second-guess herself.
What if Yorick was innocent, and Queenie ruined him based on Claire’s mere suspicion?
“Don’t worry, Queenie operates within the law. She won’t do anything reckless.” Noticing her granddaughter’s hesitation, Pandora offered a reassuring word.
Claire met Pandora’s gaze.
Pandora’s tone sharpened. “But if he is the culprit, there will be no mercy.”
Queenie was kind, but she was no saint.
Especially when someone targeted her only grandson.
With nothing left to do, Claire decided to head home.
Pandora stayed behind to catch up with old friends, telling Claire not to worry about her.
“Since I’m in Cabinda, I should pay a visit to your grandfather. Do you know when he might be available?”
Pandora asked before Claire left.
Claire paused, realizing she hadn’t informed Padgett about Pandora’s arrival.
“Whenever you want to go, he’ll make time.”
Despite her assurance, Claire gave Padgett a heads-up call.
Hearing that his in-law was in town Padgett immediately urged Claire,
hy haven’t you brough her to stay at the house?”
“Can your little apartment even fit her?”
Padgett had no idea Claire had live-in security and lacked a spare room. He
assumed Pandora was crashing at her place.
“She’s not staying with me. She came to Cabinda with a close friend.”
“She was helping her friend find her relatives, and they’ve already reunited.”
Claire kept the explanation brief.
Padgett felt he had breached
my
Sasa host ‘ll call her met

invite her and her friend over!”
In the past, Padgett had harbored a deep resentment toward Pandora, furious that
her son had eloped with his daughter.
But seeing Claire all grown up, the years of bitterness had faded.
Besides, if Pandora hadn’t permitted Claire to return to The Churchill Family in Cabinda, who knew how long it would have taken him to meet his granddaughter.
Claire didn’t dare make promises on Queenie’s behalf, unsure of her schedule.
After all, Queenie had mentioned taking Quentin abroad for treatment.
Whatever Padgett and Pandora discussed over the phone resulted in a dinner reservation for the following evening.
Baldrick was also on the guest list.
Padgett had likely let it slip that Pandora was in town.
Baldrick naturally wanted to play the gracious host.
Padgett and Pandora were connected, but Dane was Claire’s fiancé, cementing the
future bond between their families.
