Chapter 2:

He looked at me with a frown, but then he nodded his head.

“Whatever,” he muttered in a deep voice as he walked past me. When he walked away, I closed my eyes, still lingering in the scent of his attractive cologne. I realized it was the first time we had spoken.

“Hey, Nerdy. Why are you alone? Did you think any of us would consider you a beautiful, lonely girl?” A boy paused and said to me.

I didn’t argue with him; in fact, I never argued with anyone because I was afraid that if I did, they would bully me or spread lies about me, causing problems for my mother. Except for my three close friends, I tried to avoid interacting with others.

“Robin, stop it and come on. We don’t have time for your nonsense,” Ian called out from a little distance.

I turned my head toward him. He was looking at the boy standing next to me.

Robin walked over to Ian and said,

“You shouldn’t have stopped me. I was just making fun of that nerd p>

“Still no time for your nonsense,” Ian replied as he walked ahead, running his fingers through his wet hair.

“Why did Ian save this girl?” I heard whispers from the girls around me.

I stared at Ian’s back until he turned down another path and disappeared from sight.

I turned around and saw Luke waving at me, so I walked over to him.

He was a top student in his third year, the same year as Ian.

“I was waiting for you,” Luke said, holding a sports bag over his shoulder.

Luke was the captain of Ian’s opposing team, ‘Red Flamor p>

Ian was the captain of the ‘Black Diamonds p>

“I ran into someone and ended up being late,” I replied.

“You mentioned you needed my help with statistics p>

Together, we made our way to the library. That was how we met a few months ago.

He was a top student, and I was struggling to solve math problems. He offered to help me study, and after that, he met my friends, and we all grew close. But he also had other friends.

We went to the library to begin studying.

Later on, Abigail joined us. Along with her was Debra, another of my friends. She was a very sweet girl—fashionable and trendy.

“I’m throwing a great party tonight,” Luke announced.

“Where?” Debra asked.

“In my guest house p>

“Okay, that’s good news p>

Luke turned to me and said,

“You have to come tonight p>

I was stunned. “What? But you know I can’t go to any parties p>

“Why not? I’ll talk to Aunt Angela p>

“No, no. She won’t allow it. Besides, I don’t want to go there either p>

Abigail interrupted our conversation, assuring him, “Luke, I’ll bring her there p>

Later, they managed to persuade me to go to the party.

In the evening,

Abigail came to my house.

I was wearing a black t-shirt and baggy blue jeans that were loose enough to cover my body type.

“Please wear something nice, babe. I mean, these aren’t bad, but you should wear something more fitting for a party,” Abigail said as she began going through my closet.

She turned her head with disappointment. “Not a single dress for parties,” she muttered.

“I told you, parties aren’t my thing. I shouldn’t go p>

“Wait, no! I didn’t mean it that way. You’re my best friend. I only said that because I want to give you a hot 100k. Forget what I said. You look good p>

I chuckled at her panic. I gathered all my hair into a low ponytail at the back of my head.

I pulled out two thick strands of hair to cover my face. I reached for my glasses and put them on.

“Do you know how beautiful you are? Why are you hiding yourself like this?” Abigail asked.

I turned around and smiled at her. “This isn’t hiding myself. This is just me p>

Abigail removed her long black coat and offered it to me. “Wear it p>

“No, there’s no need for it,” I replied, admiring her hot purple dress that fit her body perfectly.

She wrapped the coat around me. “This is just a coat. You have to wear it. You’ll catch a cold p>

After putting on the coat, I looked at myself in the mirror.

“What about you?” I asked her.

“I don’t need it anyway,” she winked.

After leaving my house, we got into her car. She was rich enough to have her own. Her father was a successful businessman, so buying an expensive car for his daughter was no big deal.

However, Abigail never treated me arrogantly.

As I leaned against the seat, I looked out the window.

About an hour later, we arrived at Luke’s guesthouse. I noticed a large number of cars parked outside.

As soon as I entered, I was greeted by thick smoke and loud music.

As Abigail and I made our way through the crowd, I grasped her hand tightly.

The entire house had been transformed into a nightclub. People were drinking beer from red cups, some even holding bottles. Boys and girls were talking and moving their feet to the music.

“Ava, Abigail p>

Debra rushed over to us as soon as she noticed us. She looked pretty and gorgeous, as always.

She hugged Abigail, then me. “I’m so glad you came. I must say, Abigail works some real magic. How did she handle your mother p>

“My mom wasn’t at home,” I replied.

“Shit! You shouldn’t have said that. They might think I’m a genius,” Abigail muttered.

We laughed together.

“Let’s go to Luke. He must be at the poolside,” Abigail said. We made our way toward the pool, with Abigail leading the way since she had been here three times before.

“There he is!” Abigail said when she spotted Luke as we arrived at the poolside.

Luke was talking with a group of boys. Abigail walked up to him, and I trailed behind. But something caught my eye, and my steps came to a halt.

I noticed a group of boys and girls cheering for something.

When I turned around, I saw a boy wearing a black blindfold.

It was Ian Dawson!

He was dressed in black jeans and a sleeveless black jacket, revealing his tattoos. The half-chain of his jacket was unzipped, and he wasn’t wearing a t-shirt underneath, giving him an incredibly hot appearance.

The girls were giggling as he moved closer to them, as if he could catch one of them at any moment.

It seemed like he was playing blind man’s buff with the girls. His friends were drinking and enjoying the game, almost as if it were a dare for him to catch a particular girl.

My eyes widened when I saw he was coming in my direction. I took a few steps back. However, he kept advancing toward me.

I turned around just as he was almost there, but before I could move to the other side, a hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me into a firm chest.

The entire area fell silent.

I was shocked by the sudden closeness. His touch made my entire body freeze. He chuckled and bit his lower lip, as if he could hear my rapid heartbeat.

His lips caught my attention. He had a mole in the center of his lower lip. It struck me as the most beautiful sight I had ever seen.

Slowly, he lifted his hands and removed his blindfold.

But the moment the black cloth was lifted from his eyes, his smile faded.
