Chapter 116
Chapter 116:
“Think about yourself first. Where’s your boyfriend? Why are you here alone? Didn’t you tell me you came here for him? It doesn’t look like it. You seem more focused on my sister than on your own boyfriend p>
Everyone—boys and girls, including Ava’s friends—was taken aback by Stephen’s cold tone.
“Stephen, you know you can’t talk to me like that. Your sister already left the game. Are you afraid she lost her sanity because she was scared of the dark? Does she suffer from claustrophobia? Is that it? Did something happen to her? Why are you so protective of her?†Nova said, rising to her feet.
Both of Ava’s friends stood up as well, ready to defend Ava in her absence.
However, before they could say anything to Nova, Stephen walked up to her and muttered angrily,
“Don’t mess with my sister again p>
He turned to the others on the couches and warned them,
“If any of you try to bother her again, I will shred your body and feed it to the rogues. She is my family now. And you know Gammas don’t like it when anyone hurts their family. If they can protect their pack, they can protect their loved ones as well p>
Everyone was intimidated by his anger. Gammas were known for their high body temperature, their strength as fighters, and their unwavering loyalty to their Alphas. Other than their head Alpha, they wouldn’t hesitate to hurt anyone who offended them.
Ava’s friends were impressed by the way Stephen defended and protected her, even in her absence. When Stephen turned his glare back to Nova, she began to cry.
Her eyes shifted to Ian, who was standing in a corner with Ronald, seemingly indifferent to everything happening around him.
She rushed to Ian and hugged him from behind.
“Baby, please save me from your friend. He’s bullying me p>
Ian took her arms and wrapped them around himself before turning to face her.
“What happened?†he asked.
He clearly didn’t look okay; his brows were furrowed in anger.
“S-Stephen, he was insulting me in front of everyone p>
Ian glanced away from her and looked at Stephen, who stood a short distance away. Stephen rolled his eyes and replied,
“Tell your girlfriend to know her limits and stay away from my sister. I don’t like her, and I believe my sister doesn’t like her either p>
Stephen was certain that Nova had manipulated the chits to send Ava to the dark room as part of a plot. He knew Ava’s past, including the loss of her father, and understood why she struggled with the dark. He was determined not to let anyone hurt her.
Ian was about to say he didn’t care even if Stephen scolded Nova, but when he noticed Ava walking towards the room, he changed his mind and said nothing.
“Steph, you should have stopped your sister in the first place. If she’s so afraid of the dark, why did she agree to do the dare? Maybe she’s gotten too full of herself since becoming your sister.†His eyes were focused on Ava as he spoke, noticing her frown directed at him.
His gaze suddenly drifted to her neck before he quickly looked away. There were no hickeys, but the sensation of touching her still lingered in his mind. He shut his eyes for a moment, struggling with the urge to hold her again.
