Chapter 28
Chapter 28:
Luke was giving his best. Every time he made a basket, he looked over at Ava, who smiled back at him.
“Ian, you’re not concentrating. We’re losing the game,†Cyrus pointed out.
But Ian couldn’t focus. Suddenly, he was overwhelmed by feelings of rage. Everything around him seemed off, and he couldn’t shake the irritation.
“Time’s up! Red Flamor wins the practice match,†the referee announced after blowing the final whistle.
Ava jumped up, cheering along with Abigail and Debra when Red Flamor won. She was enjoying the match, her happiness evident. Nova shot her a sharp look and commented loudly, “Look at the nerd. She’s so happy, as if this were the final match. She doesn’t even know the difference between a practice game and a real one p>
Ava ignored Nova’s taunts. Luke walked over to join Ava and the others.
“Thank you all for coming to support me,†he said.
“It’s nothing, bro,†Abigail replied with a chuckle.
“When did you become so emotional?†Debra teased.
“You did really great. I hope you win the final too,†Ava said to him.
“Thanks, Ava,†Luke replied.
Abigail glanced at them and laughed.
“Okay, okay. Now go take a shower, you stinky boy,†she joked.
They all burst out laughing. Luke promised to meet them after his shower. Abigail told him to hurry, as she had some work to do and would take Ava with her.
Ava and Abigail had planned to visit a doctor, but they didn’t want anyone to know. So Abigail lied to Luke, telling him that she had some errands to run.
While Ava chatted with her friends, she was unaware that a dark gaze was fixed on her from across the room.
“Why aren’t you saying anything, baby?†Nova asked Ian, wiping the sweat from his neck with a white towel. She lingered, deliberately brushing her fingers against his warm Adam’s apple.
Ian snatched the towel from her hand and, in a low voice, said, “How many times do I have to tell you not to touch me p>

“But we’re boyfriend and girlfriend. How can I avoid touching you?†Ian looked at her with cold eyes. “If you want to be my Luna, then keep your distance until I allow you to get close to me p>
His words were like an unspoken rule. She lowered her head and nodded at him. Ian scoffed as he noticed the longing in her eyes to become the Luna of the pack.
“As usual, everyone’s after the position,†he thought to himself as he walked off the court.
Meanwhile, Ava was chatting with her friends in the café. Luke joined them, just as he had promised. He looked fresh and happy.
“I can’t believe we won today’s match,†he said, sipping the coffee he had ordered after sitting down at the table.
“You’re a great captain, so your team had to win,†Ava said, cheering him on once more.
“My friends were saying the same thing,†Luke replied, his smile widening. “They really appreciated me today.†Then he paused, thinking for a moment before asking, “What about that math problem I solved two days ago? Did you take a look at it p>
