Chapter 133
Chapter 133:
Ava walked past him just as Luke came in through the main door.
With a broad smile, she headed over to greet him.
But she stopped in her tracks when she heard Ian’s deep voice from behind.
“What is he doing in your house, Steph p>
Ava rolled her eyes and walked over to Luke. She heard Stephen reply to Ian,
“He’s Ava’s friend, so he’s here for her p>
Luke glanced quickly at Stephen and his friends, but his eyes lingered on Ian.
“Luke, hi,†Ava greeted him with a smile.
Luke shifted his gaze from Ian to Ava, clearly captivated by her appearance.
“Hi. You look ready to go out. Why don’t we actually go somewhere p>
Ava could tell he felt awkward about coming inside, especially since he wasn’t exactly on good terms with Stephen.
She frowned, then grabbed his arm.
“That’s what I thought too, but I changed my mind. Why not let me show you around? I have a small library upstairs. We can enjoy our coffee there p>
She gestured toward the staircase. Luke glanced up and saw the cozy library setup—a couple of single couches with a small table, surrounded by little potted plants that created a vibrant atmosphere.
He looked back at Ian, noticing the way Ian’s brows were raised as he stared at him. There was a warning in those dark eyes that Luke didn’t miss.
Luke scoffed at Ian and then patted Ava’s hand.
“You’re right. Let’s have our coffee here. I just want to spend time with you, so it doesn’t matter if it’s at a coffee shop or at your place p>
Ava nodded and led him to the stairs.
“Ava,†a voice called out just as she started up. She turned to see who it was—Ronald.

“Yes?†she asked.
“Why don’t you and your friend spend some time with us?†Ronald said, smirking.
“No, thank p>
“Yeah,†Luke replied, cutting her off.
Ava looked at Luke in surprise. He leaned in closer to her ear and whispered,
“It’s okay. I’m not afraid of them. You think I’m a coward, don’t you p>
She shook her head immediately.
“No, I didn’t mean that this morning p>
He smiled and slipped his arm around her shoulders.
“Relax, cutie. I didn’t take it personally p>
Ava blushed at the nickname, glancing at his hand resting on her shoulder. Until yesterday, she hadn’t thought much of his actions, but after her friends pointed out Luke’s feelings, she started to notice the signals she had been ignoring.
While they looked at each other, someone across from them did not look pleased.
Ian’s eyes were icy as he stared at them, feeling an unexpected surge of anger he couldn’t explain.
“What’s wrong, Ian? Are you bothered by them sitting here?†Ronald muttered quietly.
Ian clenched his jaw and turned to his best friend. Ronald just raised an eyebrow and smirked.
