“What happened, Ava? Why is Ian following you? You didn’t say anything last night, either. I saw him coming out of the room, but when I asked, you said nothing p>
Ava broke the hug and sighed. She glanced around before taking Abigail’s hand.
“Let’s go,†she said, leading her somewhere more private to talk.
As usual, they sat in the cafeteria.
When Ava told her everything that had happened in the dark room, Abigail’s face grew angry.

Ava was about to agree but hesitated, remembering Ian’s words from the night before. He claimed she couldn’t resist his closeness. She recalled her own reaction—the moans and how she had almost lost herself in the sensation of his lips on her neck.

At the mention of Ian, Luke’s expression darkened. Ava rubbed her brow in frustration.
“I saw the posts. Why was he with you, Ava?†he asked.
Ava looked at him and replied,
“I don’t know. Lately, he’s been bothering me a lot. I just want to get rid of him. I’m tired of telling him to leave me alone. I don’t understand why he keeps picking on me,†Ava said.
Luke placed his hand over hers and gently rubbed the back of her hand.
Abigail glanced at their hands, a smirk forming on her lips.
“I think it’s time for my bestie to get a boyfriend,†she teased.
Ava didn’t respond, thinking Abigail was only joking.
But Luke looked at Abigail, who gave him a playful wink. Quickly, he looked away from her and focused his gaze back on Ava. His eyes were filled with a gentle affection as he looked at her. He took her hand in both of his.
Ava slowly lifted her gaze to meet his eyes.
“I think Abigail might be right. Maybe you should give it a chance. You never know—someone out there really wants to protect you,†Luke said softly.
Ava stared at Luke, noticing for the first time a change in the way he looked at her. She bit her bottom lip and glanced away when she realized he was talking about himself.
