Chapter 39
Chapter 39:
Ava looked at her, noticing the shift in her friend’s mood. But Abigail’s face soon brightened up.
“Thank you so much,†Abigail said on the phone before handing it to the receptionist. “Talk to him p>
Abigail grinned at Ava. “I told him to keep it confidential. That’s why he canceled the appointment, but he’ll still check you up p>
The receptionist returned Abigail’s phone and directed them to the cabin’s location.
Ava began to feel nervous. It was about her wolf.
They entered the cabin, and Ava’s eyes landed on a middle-aged man who seemed unfamiliar. That made her feel a bit more relaxed. She believed he wasn’t one of her mother’s friends.
“Dr. Levi,†Abigail greeted him.
Dr. Levi returned her greeting and then turned to Ava.
“Take a seat here p>
Ava did as instructed, walking to the chair he indicated. He sat close to her and began his examination.
“Don’t feel anxious. It will only speed up your heartbeat. You need to calm down first and answer a few questions,†he said kindly.
Ava nodded. “Okay, doctor p>
“Can you shift p>
Ava’s fists tightened at the question. She lowered her head and shook it.
“N-No p>
The doctor looked taken aback by her response. He stood up and moved to a cupboard, taking out some potions before returning to his seat.
“There’s no tonic that can make your wolf stronger. Let me check to see if she’s still inside you p>
Ava shook her head in response.

Ava glanced behind Dr. Levi, and Abigail nodded.
Abigail wasn’t unfamiliar with Dr. Levi; he was her uncle, her mother’s brother. She trusted him and his expertise. She believed he could help Ava.
Ava sighed and finally replied, “My mate rejected me p>
“Your mate, what?†Dr. Levi stood up in shock.
Ava felt embarrassed. Abigail quickly spoke up, “Uncle Levi, please help her. You are an Epsilon in our pack. You’re the only one who can help her p>
Levi appeared stressed. “The rejection could have ended her life p>
Ava listened silently, her gaze fixed on her lap.
He then asked, “Who is your mate? I mean, I’d like to know his rank. A matebond is a sacred bond for wolves. We are all wolves in disguise. Our wolves can’t live without their mates. Because of this bond, they can’t commit to another wolf for the rest of their lives. How can anyone reject such a pure bond p>
Ava closed her eyes and answered quietly, “He’s an Alpha p>
